    Vice Chancellor

    Functions

    • Subject to the provisions of the University law, the Vice-Chancellor shall take precedence over all other members of the University except the Pro-Chancellor and Chancellor.
    • Subject to the provisions of the University law, the Vice-Chancellor shall have the general function of directing the activities of the University and shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and Chairman of the Senate.

    Qualities and Qualifications

    • An applicant for the position of Vice Chancellor of the University must have the following traits and qualifications:
      • Fifteen Years (15 Years) of unbroken service in the University system.
      • Be not more than 65 years old at the time of assuming duty.
      • Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of professor of not less than 5 years' experience, with the ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University.
      • Be a person of high academic standing and reputation in his/her respective discipline, devoid of any kind of litigation or scandal.
      • Must have contributed academically to the development of a University directly or indirectly.
      • Have significant and deep experience in all facets of university administration.
      • Be a person who commands respect nationally and internationally, especially in the academic community.
      • Be an individual who, based on his/her track record, should command the willing respect and loyalty of university staff and students.
      • Scholars who will be able to attract research grants, complementary funds and collaboration from local and international agencies, and further uplift the academic stature of the University.
      • Be morally sound with integrity and free from any financial embarrassment.
      • Be a person who is physically and mentally fit in a state of good health.
      • Should have good power of application in ICT, with digital skills.

    Tenure and Conditions Of Service

    • The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for one non-renewable term of five (5) years only.
    • The conditions of service are attractive and as approved by the Government for Nigerian Universities.

    • Extra-curricular Activities
    • Names and Addresses of three (3) referees

    All Applications should be in a sealed envelope marked "Application for the Post of Vice-Chancellor 2025" and must be addressed and sent to:

    Note

    • Applicants should submit a statement of not more than 500 words on the Vision and Mission of their Administration of the University if appointed as Vice-Chancellor.
    • At least one of the referees should be in a position to provide a reliable academic/professional opinion about the applicant.
    • Applicants should request their referees to forward their views to the address above before the application deadline.
    • Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at a later date.
