SUPERVISOR, LANDSCAPING & ENVIRONMENT

JOB TITLE: Supervisor, Landscaping & Environment

REPORTS TO: Head, Landscaping & Environment 

SUPERVISES: Landscaping and Environment Team

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:

The Supervisor, Landscaping and Environment is responsible for ensuring that the University has a landscape that is attractive, clean, natural and suitable for learning and living. S/he is to ensure full educational use of all school grounds/facilities. 

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Supervisor, Landscaping & Environment shall:

• Assist the Head of Landscaping & Environment with organizing and completing job task scheduling for team members
• Supervise the landscape team to ensure that work is being completed and quality control measures are being adhered to
• Design and recommend footpaths, walkways, gardens, and surrounding areas on a continuous basis
• Ensure that landscape team members are completing the tasks at hand within reasonable and required time frames
• Ensure footpaths and walkways are safe and in good condition
• Ensure boundary fences and the environment are always neat and visible
• Control and/or prevent erosion where necessary
• Ensure road maintenance on and around campus including marking and signage are maintained and legal requirements are complied with
• Ensure that watering and irrigation and drainage systems are functioning correctly, managing boreholes, irrigation controller times and zones, as is appropriate for the University environment, and ensure that any subcontractors are fulfilling the roles that are required
• Ensure that all work performed is of a suitable and acceptable quality
• Report and provide feedback on weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to the Head of Landscaping & Environment
• Carry out any other duty or responsibility that may be assigned by the Director of Works

BASIC QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE OF SUPERVISOR, LANDSCAPING & ENVIRONMENT

• A first degree in Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning, Forestry, or any relevant field from a recognized University or tertiary institution
• Must have at least one-year post-qualification experience
