    Storekeeper

    Job Description

    • A storekeeper's primary responsibility ismanaging inventory and ensuring the smooth operation of a store or warehouse.
    • This includes receiving, storing, and distributing goods, maintaining accurate records, and overseeing stock levels to ensure items are readily available.
    • They also play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and often assist with tasks like receiving deliveries, inspecting items for damage, and even managing some aspects of sales and customer service.

    Responsibilities

    Inventory Management:

    • Receiving and storing goods: Accepting deliveries, inspecting items for damage or discrepancies, and properly storing them according to established procedures.
    • Maintaining accurate records: Tracking stock levels, recording receipts and withdrawals, and updating inventory data.
    • Monitoring stock levels: Ensuring adequate supplies are available and initiating purchase requisitions when stock is low.
    • Inventory control: Performing regular stock counts and reconciling discrepancies.
    • Storage and organization: Keeping the store or warehouse tidy, organized, and safe, following FIFO (first in, first out) or other established methods.
    • Managing returns and disposal: Handling returns from customers or other departments, and coordinating the disposal of expired or surplus items.
    • Picking and packing orders: Preparing items for dispatch or sale.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Maintaining a safe and clean environment: Ensuring the store or warehouse is well-maintained and adheres to safety regulations.
    • Assisting with sales: Some storekeepers may help with customer service, pricing, and labeling.
    • Coordinating with other departments: Communicating with procurement and sales teams regarding stock levels and needs.
    • Generating reports: Providing inventory and other relevant information to management.
    • Supervising staff: In some cases, senior storekeepers may oversee other team members.

    Qualifications

    • Interested candidates should possess an HND / Bachelor`s Degree with 3 - 4 years of experience.
