    Quality Engineer - Automobile Industry

    Job Summary

    • The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that automotive products and manufacturing processes meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory specifications.
    • The role involves quality planning, inspection, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across production, suppliers, and final products.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance systems in line with automotive standards (IATF 16949 / ISO 9001).
    • Monitor and improve product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
    • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of automotive components and assemblies.
    • Prepare and review quality documents such as Control Plans, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, and SPC.
    • Analyze quality issues using root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve quality issues.
    • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support new product development and process validation activities.
    • Conduct internal audits and support external/customer audits.
    • Monitor supplier quality performance and manage supplier corrective actions.
    • Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
    • 3 - 7 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in the automobile or auto-component manufacturing industry.
    • Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
    • Hands-on experience with automotive quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
    • Experience in handling customer complaints and warranty issues.
    • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and automotive components.
    • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in MS Excel and quality management software.

    Preferred Certifications (Optional):

    • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
    • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt.
    • Internal Auditor certification for IATF 16949.
