    Programme Specialist

    How can you make a difference?

    • Under the general supervision of the Emergency Manager, the Programme Specialist – Humanitarian Cash Transfers and Shock-Responsive Social Protection (SRSP), will build on the lessons learned from an anticipatory action pilot carried out in Kaduna State in Northwest Nigeria in 2022 by rolling out a cash preparedness initiative in Jigawa State, also in Northwest Nigeria.
    • The Programme Specialist shall also provide strategic guidance to enable the country office to engage relevant national and local authorities in view of strengthening the government’s shock-responsive nature of social protection systems.

    Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

    • Project Design and Coordination
    • Monitor cash-related budgets
    • Provide strategic guidance
    • Ensure internal coordination and mapping
    • Strengthen fundraising
    • Inter-agency participation in cash transfer and shock-responsive social
    • Track the risk management components of cash transfers,
    • Follow and enhance the learning of the country office
    • Undertake field visits

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

    • An Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, international relations, international development, economics, business administration, or other related disciplines is required.
    • A relevant first-level university degree (Bachelor's), plus 2 years of relevant work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • A minimum of five years of professional experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, humanitarian cash transfers, and social protection are required.
    • Previous experience with humanitarian cash transfers and/or shock-responsive social protection programming is required.
    • Project management experience is highly desirable.
    • Government engagement on issues related to social protection or humanitarian coordination is highly desirable.
    • Work experience in an emergency context is an asset.
    • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently, identify solutions to overcome bottlenecks, and deliver high-quality results on time.
    • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
