Job Summary
The Programme Officer will support the implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of health and community-based interventions under the CODSAiN and LAFIYAN MATASA projects in Yobe State. The position holder will work closely with government stakeholders, health facilities, community structures, peer mentors, CHIPS/CORPs, caregivers, and project teams to ensure quality and timely implementation of project activities in line with donor requirements and organizational standards.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Programme Implementation and Coordination
- Support the implementation of approved project workplans, activities, and timelines across supported LGAs and communities.
- Coordinate day-to-day field activities related to family planning, adolescent health, HIV care, retention, resilience building, and stigma reduction interventions.
- Support the organization and implementation of trainings, workshops, community dialogues, outreach activities, peer support meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Facilitate community mobilization and sensitization activities to improve awareness and utilization of project-supported services.
- Strengthen referral pathways and linkages between communities and health facilities for service uptake and continuity of care.
- Support the coordination and supervision of CHIPS/CORPs, peer mentors, caregivers, volunteers, and other community actors engaged under the projects.
- Ensure effective implementation of adolescent-friendly and community-based service delivery approaches.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Maintain strong collaboration with State Ministries of Health, State Primary Health Care Development Agencies/Boards, LGA health teams, community leaders, schools, women groups, youth groups, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in technical working groups, coordination meetings, review meetings, and other relevant stakeholder forums on behalf of RAWYOD when assigned.
- Support advocacy and community engagement efforts aimed at improving project ownership, participation, and sustainability.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
- Support routine monitoring and supportive supervision activities to ensure quality implementation and adherence to project standards.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to ensure accurate collection, verification, documentation, and reporting of programme data.
- Prepare and submit timely activity reports, weekly updates, monthly reports, success stories, case studies, and other project documentation as required.
- Track project progress against targets and support implementation of corrective actions where gaps are identified.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of programme records, reports, attendance sheets, and activity evidence.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure all project activities are implemented in line with donor regulations, organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and implementation guidelines.
- Support compliance with data protection, confidentiality, accountability, and ethical standards during programme implementation.
- Promote gender equity, inclusion, safeguarding, and protection principles across all project activities.
- Support risk identification, mitigation, and incident reporting related to programme implementation and staff safety.
Financial and Administrative Support
- Support activity planning, budget utilization tracking, and accountability processes in collaboration with the Finance and Admin team.
- Ensure proper utilization and accountability of project resources during field implementation.
- Support logistics and operational arrangements for trainings, meetings, field visits, and community activities.
Other Responsibilities
- Support visibility and communication efforts through documentation of project achievements and impact stories.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Programme Officer or management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor\'s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Nursing, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years\' experience implementing health, HIV/AIDS, family planning, adolescent health, or community development projects.
- Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, donor-funded projects, or community-based programmes.
- Good understanding of community engagement, stakeholder coordination, and health systems strengthening approaches.
- Experience in report writing, data collection, and programme monitoring.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in challenging and multicultural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in Yobe State is an added advantage
