As Program Controller, you are responsible for managing program budgets by evaluating and approving expenditures, assessing financial risks, informing agreements with implementing partners and service providers, and reporting on program finances.
The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Key responsibilities:
Manage overall financial responsibility for designated program areas and donor funding with preparing financial forecasts and manage program administration.
Ensure alignment with operational procedures, including partner assessments and compliance with donor requirements.
Assess partners' financial reports, revised budgets, and audit statements, and follow up on findings while ensuring complete and accurate financial administration and audit files for programs. Also for new projects with implementation partners.
Provide financial advice to program teams, support in the preparation of budgets for fundraising proposals and review donor contracts and reporting requirements.
Conduct monthly financial checks and manage financial risks in the portfolio and ensure accurate coding of incoming payment requests in financial systems.
Collaborate with other finance staff in the country office for local financial requirements such as salary payment, tax remittance, financial compliance, payments etc.
Oversee financial reporting to donors and ensure compliance with donor requirement, this includes preparing timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Implement and comply with organisational policies and procedures for financial reporting and collaborate with other finance staff in the country office to ensure regional and national compliance with financial reporting and tax obligations.

What you bring.
10 years of experience in financial management or a controller role, preferably in an international context.
Academic degree in accounting, finance, business economics, or a related field.
Professional certification in accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
Hands-on experience with GAAP and IFRS, and up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry practices.
Experience with ERP systems and financial management software; familiarity with Salesforce, Exact Globe and PowerBI is an advantage.
Strong competencies in using spreadsheets for financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Experience in leadership and team management, with the capacity to guide a team of accountants.
