    Engineer - Radio Frequency Optimization East (Network NG)

    Mission

    • To manage radio network design and optimization activities in the Eastern part of the network comprising (Anambra, Imo, Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Benue, River, Crossriver, Akwaibom and Bayelsa), ensuring that enough capacity and coverage is provided to support subscriber growth and usage demands. To provide high quality of service (QoS) to MTN subscribers from a radio access point of view.

    Description
    Network optimization functions within the region which will be measured by:

    • Capacity assurance – Liaise with the Planning and implementation team to ensure that at any time the network will be able to accommodate the subscriber level anticipated 3 months ahead
    • SLA KPIs improvement – Ensure that the optimization vendors execute optimization actions to continually improve the SLA KPIs
    • Technology integration – Liaise with the Planning team to ensure that multiservice sites (2G, 3G, 4G,  etc) are properly designed and integrated with minimal complexity and good Inter Radio Access Technology performance.
    • Time - Ensuring that network optimization and SLA KPIs improvement are done in timely manner.
    • Always maintain a detailed knowledge of the coverage areas of all the RAN nodes in the regions, profile their performance and report status
    • Monitor, benchmark and report all competitor activities
    • Manage customer complaints handling with the optimization vendor.
    • Apply the use of optimization tools to conduct routine deep dive to identify network problems and resolve them.
    • Be aware of any of the issues below that may affect the successful operation of MTN’s business within the region
    • Provide specialist technical support to all other departments regarding the network and radio related features
    • Conduct the trialing and deployment of new features on the network
    • Conduct routine coverage evaluation using physical drive tests and virtual drive tests.
    • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly analysis and audit of the network, resolve identified issues through the optimization vendors and escalate the ones meant for other stakeholders.
    • Monitor and analyze network performance and configuration to ensure KPIs are in conformance with targets for the region
    • Continuously analyze traffic, utilization and subscriber growth in order to foresee needs for capacity expansion.
    • Review, prepare and load cell data for rehoming sites.
    • Evaluate, verify and supervise the optimization of MTNN radio networks by managed service vendor(s)

    Requirements
    Education:

    • First degree in Electrical/Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering or related discipline Fluent in English 

    Experience:

    • 3 – 7 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience working with others
    • Cognate RF Optimization, Analysis and solutions experience 
    • Experience with a GSM, WCDMA, LTE or Wireless Telecomm operator
    • Experience working in a multi-vendor network
    • Experience with Ericsson, Huawei and ZTE equipment will be desirable.

    Engineer - Packet Core

    Description

    • Analyze and provide information on bandwidth usage, user application/experience and critical upgrades on the Mobile Data Network.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • First Degree in Electrical / Electronics or Computer Engineering
    • UNIX Certification
    • Ericsson Certification/Training
    • Fluent in English.

    Experience
    3 -7 years’ experience in an area of specialisation; with experience working with others:

    • Experience in Ericsson Evolved Packet Core/Switched and MPBN Networks; Protocols, Devices and Certifications
    • Experience in a GSM environment preferably in a high-level support role in the Core Network.
    • Experience in support of a multi-vendor Mobile Data Network and Enterprise environment.
    • Experience in WAP Gateways (MSP), DNSes, Radius (AAA), PCRF (SAPC), HSS Service Nodes.
    • Experience working on complex, commercially sensitive Mobile Data Network projects (e.g. technology evaluations/integration, due diligence, etc)

    Requirements
    Education:

    Experience:

    • 3 - 7 years’ experience in an area of specialisation; with experience working with others 
    • Experience working in a multinational organization.

    • Build and maintain interactive, user centric Power BI dashboards with drill through, bookmarks, and tooltips for executives and operational users.
