Our client is a multinational oil and gas trading group with offices in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Their experience spans over a decade focusing petroleum products  trading and  marine logistics. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Oil and Gas Trader to buy and sell oil and gas commodities within the West African Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing market trends, negotiating deals, and managing trading risks

Responsibilities

• The role holder reports to the Chief Operating Officer based in Lagos, Nigeria.
• Analyze market trends and forecasts to identify trading opportunities
• Negotiate and execute trades with suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders
• Manage trading risks and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirement
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, buyers, and industry experts. 
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments, market news, and regulatory changes
• Execute all commercial and shipping operations
•  Handle presentation of Cargo documentations under PPPRA and DPR
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with traders, affiliates, chartering, finance, demurrage, accounts and legal departments and Management
• Control storage positions, sales by trucks and monthly stock reconciliation mainly in WAF
• Organize and maintain good contractual and shipping files
• Check and approve logistic/shipping invoices from storage companies, agents, inspectors and other counterparties
• Monitor trades P&L, and all costs such as disbursement accounts, inspection, claims and re-invoicing.
• Ensure that revenues are maximized, payments secured and all claims documented.
• Carefully review  contractual wordings and set up templates agreements to avoid disputes or potential litigation for all trading transactions

Desired Skills and Experience

• Have deep understanding of downstream sector of the  Nigerian and  Anglophone  West African Region
• Can boast of established network and relationships within the sector
• Confident and possess high commercial acumen
• Bachelors/Master’s degree in any of Engineering, Social or Management Sciences.
• Able to work in a fast-paced and agile working environment.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of oil trading, energy, logistics or shipping demonstrating a real curiosity and passion for the energy-trading world.
• A previous experience in oil trading in Nigeria and the Anglophone West Africa Region
• Possess an excellent organizational and problem solving skills, solid negotiation skills, solution-oriented attitude, and collaborative mind-set 
• Ability to seize the big picture perspective.
• Strong sense of accountability.
• Great at communication-written and oral and has that leadership skills that can influence 
• Good analytical skills, good command of IT tools.
