    Manager, Risk Management & Reassurance

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Manager, Risk Management & Reassurance to join our team. This role will be key in managing and analyzing financial, market, credit, and operational risks within the organization. You will play a vital part in ensuring effective reinsurance arrangements and risk mitigation strategies are in place, contributing to the company’s risk management framework and financial resilience.

    Job Details

    Risk Management:

    • Develop and implement risk management strategies: Contribute to the design and execution of a comprehensive risk management process, analyzing the financial impact of various risks.
    • Risk assessment and evaluation: Assess and evaluate current and potential risks affecting the organization, ensuring effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.
    • Risk reporting: Prepare detailed risk reports for department heads and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity around departmental responsibilities in managing risks.
    • Stakeholder engagement: Effectively communicate external risks and corporate governance issues to key stakeholders.
    • Business continuity planning: Collaborate with other departments to develop, implement, and update business continuity plans.
    • Employee training and awareness: Support the promotion of risk management awareness throughout the company and provide risk-related training for staff.

    Reassurance

    • Reinsurance advice: Provide advice on new, renewed, and altered policies to ensure optimal apportionment and placement of risks.
    • Retention and treaty management: Assist in advising on retention limits and treaty arrangements, ensuring alignment with market trends and company strategy.
    • Reconciliation and claims management: Oversee reconciliation of accounts with reinsurers, manage large claims, and coordinate claims recovery exceeding retention limits.
    • Operational oversight: Ensure the effective execution of reassurance activities and monitor team performance to ensure alignment with company strategy.

    Managerial Activities:

    Requirements

    Knowledge/ Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
    • Certification in Risk Management is Compulsory

    Experience

    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in risk management, reinsurance, or actuarial services, with at least 3 years in a managerial role in risk management

    Skills/Competencies

    • Strong knowledge of risk management and reinsurance principles.
    • Ability to assess, mitigate, and report on complex risks.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
    • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency in relevant risk management and financial software/tools.
