    Mechanical Design Engineer

    ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with deep expertise in infrastructure and structural systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and delivering mechanical components, assemblies, and structural frameworks used in large-scale infrastructure projects — including bridges, tunnels, industrial facilities, pipelines, and civil structures. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce technically sound, safe, and cost-effective design solutions from concept through to construction and commissioning.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Design & Engineering

    • Lead the mechanical and structural design of infrastructure components including support structures, frames, platforms, pipe racks, equipment foundations and load-bearing assemblies.
    • Develop detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent).
    • Perform structural analysis and load calculations (static, dynamic, seismic, wind, thermal) using FEA software (ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent).
    • Produce design calculations, technical specifications, data sheets, and material selection reports.
    • Design to applicable standards: ASME, AISC, Eurocodes, BS EN, IS codes, ASCE, or project-specific codes.

    Project Delivery

    • Manage design deliverables across all project phases — FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
    • Coordinate with civil, electrical, process, and procurement teams to ensure design integration and clash resolution.
    • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP sessions, constructability reviews and client technical meetings.
    • Review and approve vendor/contractor drawings and technical submittals.
    • Support on-site construction activities, resolve technical queries (RFIs), and provide engineering support during installation.

    Quality, Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure all designs comply with local and international building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct and document design verification and validation (DVV) activities.
    • Prepare and maintain design registers, change control documentation, and as-built records.
    • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and engineering excellence across the project team.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
    • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical or structural design for infrastructure projects (oil & gas, power, transport, water, or heavy industry).
    • Proficiency in at least one major CAD platform: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Revit MEP,Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation.
    • Demonstrated experience with FEA/structural analysis tools (ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent).
    • Strong knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, pressure vessels, piping, and equipment support design.
    • Familiarity with international design standards: ASME, AISC, Eurocodes, ASCE 7, API, or equivalent.
    • Experience producing engineering deliverables — calculations, specifications, drawings — to a professional standard.
