    Information Management Officer

    Purpose: 

    The Information Management Officer will be responsible for managing, analysing, and disseminating education-related humanitarian data to support evidence-based decision-making, coordination, advocacy, and reporting for the Education in Emergencies Working Group (EiEWG) in Nigeria.

    Effective sector coordination depends not only on strong leadership and coordination capacity, but also on robust and reliable information management, which is a core accountability of the sector lead agency. High-quality information management underpins coordination processes by ensuring that all relevant actors work from consistent, complementary, and reliable data and baselines when making decisions.

    In humanitarian contexts, well-collected and properly managed data also supports early recovery, longer-term recovery, and disaster preparedness efforts. Information management is therefore a time-critical function that enables timely, evidence-based decision-making across the sector.

    The purpose of this position is to lead the systematic collection, analysis, and dissemination of education data, ensuring that EiEWG partners have access to accurate and timely information to inform strategic and operational decision-making.

    Role of Information Management Officer (IMO): 

    The Information Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining the sector information management systems, supporting the development of key sector frameworks including the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and the Humanitarian Response Plan (HPR). Additionally, the IMO will be involved in the development of essential information management tools, products and the coordination of various reporting systems within the sector; other key tasks include: 

    Scope of work & Responsibilities:

    Under the technical supervision of the EiEWG Coordinator and hosted by GEPaDC, the Information Management Officer will undertake the following duties:

    Information Management and Data Analysis

    • Establish, maintain, and update EiEWG information management systems and databases.
    • Compile, clean, analyse, and visualise education data from partners, assessments, and secondary sources.
    • Support the collection, validation, and consolidation of partner activity data, including 5Ws (Who, What, Where, When, and for Whom).
    • Produce regular analytical outputs such as dashboards, factsheets, maps, and situation analyses using relevant suitable tools.

    Reporting and Knowledge Products

    • Lead the preparation and timely submission of EiEWG inputs into inter-sectoral products, including SitReps, HNOs, HRPs, and donor reports.
    • Support the development of assessment reports, monitoring updates, and thematic briefs.
    • Ensure consistent data quality, harmonised indicators, and alignment with global EiE standards.

    Coordination and Partner Support

    • Provide IM technical support and capacity strengthening to EiEWG partners at national and sub-national levels as well as national and sub-national government structures.
    • Support EiEWG meetings and Technical working groups/Task Teams through data presentations and analytical inputs.
    • Liaise with OCHA, clusters, government counterparts, and other sectors to ensure data interoperability and alignment.

    Systems, Tools, and Innovation

    • Support the design, rollout, and maintenance of data collection tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK).
    • Maintain EiEWG online platforms, shared folders, and information repositories.
    • Contribute to the improvement of IM processes, templates, and guidance notes.

    Accountability, Ethics, and Data Protection

    • Ensure responsible data management in line with humanitarian data protection principles.

    Promote transparency, accountability, and ethical use of data across EiEWG products.

    Required Qualification and Experience: 

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field. Formal IM or humanitarian coordination training is an asset.
    • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in humanitarian IM, preferably within cluster/sector coordination. Experience supporting HNO/HRP and ECW processes is highly desirable.
