Responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety and environmental compliance within the company (multi-sites)
Ensure that all employees, clients and contractors are following proper procedures and protocols at all times
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local & state rules and regulations
Maintain OH&S management system in compliance with State and Organizational requirements.
Measure and report on enterprise HSE Performance. This will include Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Review and analysis of all hazardous activities, recommend and implement preventive measures.
Perform safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective and preventative measures and follow up on task completion.
Manage Company HSE Equipment (Tools and PPE) inventory and ensure timely safety equipment inspection whether internally or by contractors.
Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
Coordinate with HR on compliance with HSE Training requirements.
Ensure management of all hazardous waste and maintain records of the same.
Ensure compliance with Occupational regulations and standards like State Fire Service, State and Federal Ministry of Environment.
Develop and implement efficient operations emergency response plans and ensure compliance with state regulations.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Science / Engineering from a recognised University
Master's degree is a plus
Minimum of 7 years experience in a similar senior role within a large group operating in Nigeria
Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems, Environmental Discharges, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation by using Tripod Beta Tool, HSE Auditing Techniques, HEMP, Radiological Safety.
HSE Standards like ISO 45001, ISO4001:2004 and ISO 18001.
HSE Certifications like NEBOSH General Certificate, ISO 45001 Lead Implementer and auditor
