    Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety and environmental compliance within the company (multi-sites)
    • Ensure that all employees, clients and contractors are following proper procedures and protocols at all times
    • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local & state rules and regulations
    • Maintain OH&S management system in compliance with State and Organizational requirements.
    • Measure and report on enterprise HSE Performance. This will include Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Review and analysis of all hazardous activities, recommend and implement preventive measures.
    • Perform safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective and preventative measures and follow up on task completion.
    • Manage Company HSE Equipment (Tools and PPE) inventory and ensure timely safety equipment inspection whether internally or by contractors.
    • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
    • Coordinate with HR on compliance with HSE Training requirements.
    • Ensure management of all hazardous waste and maintain records of the same.
    • Ensure compliance with Occupational regulations and standards like State Fire Service, State and Federal Ministry of Environment.
    • Develop and implement efficient operations emergency response plans and ensure compliance with state regulations.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Science / Engineering from a recognised University
    • Master's degree is a plus
    • Minimum of 7 years experience in a similar senior role within a large group operating in Nigeria
    • Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems, Environmental Discharges, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation by using Tripod Beta Tool, HSE Auditing Techniques, HEMP, Radiological Safety.
    • HSE Standards like ISO 45001, ISO4001:2004 and ISO 18001.
    • HSE Certifications like NEBOSH General Certificate, ISO 45001 Lead Implementer and auditor
    • Team management experience.

    Head of Risk

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for Risk Management activities
    • Oversee the assessment of operations (Machinery, Equipment, Controls, Processes, Safety, Environmental) by deploying Group Risk Management tools that facilitates the end to end process of risk identification and scoring of same
    • Provide assurance that the ERM framework is effective and that the business units exposures remain within its risk appetite
    • Monitor the implementation of actions plans to address key risks identified from Engineering Survey, Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), and reported loss incidents.
    • Maintain daily communication with Plant Operations to ensure assets performance.
    • Attend Management Committee meetings and present or discuss key risks identified that require immediate redress.
    • Effectively create a risk-aware culture through awareness programs, training, or activities.
    • Identify and mitigate asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant operations using acceptable engineering methodologies and tools.
    • Coordinate investigations of equipment related incident/accidents.
    • Conduct production process reviews, acceptance testing and inspections on new and existing equipment.
    • Work with Plant technical team to ensure preventive/predictive maintenance of Plant equipment.
    • Support plant maintenance and manufacturing cost objectives and reduction efforts
    • Monitor the Business Unit’s risk exposure closely to ensure operational efficiency, target sales, dispatch and proper redress of limiting factors.
    • Support the identification, assessment, mitigation and management of key risks in alignment with business strategy, with focus on - Production, Operational, Safety, Transport & Logistics, Business Continuity, Insurance and Credit Risks.
    • Monitor the implementation of actions plans to address key risks identified from Engineering Survey, Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), and reported loss incidents.
    • Credit Facility Processing
    • Administration of Sales Orders
    • Payments/Debt Monitoring
    • Maintenance of Relevant Registers
    • Collateral Management.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering related course, Process, Mechanical Industrial and Production or Chemical Engineering;
    • Masters’ degree in a relevant field of study is a plus
    • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar senior role in either chemical, fertilizer, petrochemical, or manufacturing industry.
    • Good interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good knowledge of a Risk management software.

    • Institutionalise methodologies and mechanisms for project delivery and successes, by developing baselines, indicators and reporting structures for business opportunities, project performance, monitoring and evaluation with lessons learned and recommendations. 
    • Develop, nurture and optimise relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in the sector, OEMs and government bodies, to project and position Group correctly, enhance visibility for mutual benefit.
    • Ensure full synthesis, analysis and documentation and sharing of project insights and results, signal potential for positioning, innovation, upscaling and potential follow up projects.
    • Administer and ensure optimal utilization of all company resources to increase growth and propose new products in line with, and ahead of trend for consistent growth trajectory.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university
    • MBA will be a plus
    • Minimum of 10 years working experience in a similar senior role within a large organisation
    • Experience in Oil & Gas, ICT, Engineering sectors will be a plus
    • Excellent understanding of approaches/ methodology for business strategy articulation, monitoring and implementation; sales & marketing planning, and business performance analysis
    • Extensive experience in managing a large sales team
    • Customer relationships focused
    • Leadership and people management skills
    • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.

    • Proven experience in managing a large team (nationals & expatriates)
    • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
    • Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
    • Organisational and leadership skills
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organization and leadership skills
    • Experience navigating / relations with Nigerian Oil & Gas / Manufacturing regulatory bodies is a plus.
