Head of Account at Genesis Group Nigeria Limited

A Head of Accounts (or Chief Accountant) oversees all daily accounting operations, ensures financial compliance, manages the closing process, and prepares financial statements. They lead the finance team, manage tax reporting, and provide strategic financial data for management.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
• Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
• Compliance & Controls: Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial controls.
• Audit & Reporting: Coordinate internal/external audits and handle tax fillings and reporting.
• Closing Procedures: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Leadership & Analysis: Supervise accounting personnel and provide analysis for budgeting and forecasting. 

Requirements

• Education: B.Sc/M.Sc in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Certification: CPA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification is usually required.
• Experience: Proven experience (7–10+ years) in accounting roles, with leadership experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
