Scope
The guidance and counselor provides assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group counselling. As a G&C, you will provide guidance and counselling for our trainee and staff with personal and educational needs/problems, physical, emotional, social, moral and marital problems, career change and advancement, vocational, occupational and professional needs, situational needs and holistic development for the trainees and staff.
Primary Relationships
Reports to: COO
Work Relationship: Support the Talent Management Unit, Academic Unit, and Operations Arm of the Organization in managing all student affairs and counseling support to members of staff.
Essential Job Functions:
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to advise and assist students with academic and vocational development.
Evaluate students’ attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives.
Develop and implement counselling strategies with contemporary methods of mentoring.
Identify behavioral problems and act appropriately to remedy the situation.
Conduct tests and analyze results.
Pay attention to societal and cultural differences in all student matters.
Assess the development of natives and highlight their sense of accomplishment.
Assist the trainee to adjust to his or her physical and social environment.
Assist students with their development.
Evaluate the progress of students.
Keep track of student records.
Provide advisory services to the trainees in assessing their soft skills and competencies to match workplace requirements.
Manage trainees' expectations; helping them understand the career/job landscape.
Job Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in guidance & counseling, counseling, psychology or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a guidance & counselor in an academic environment.
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
A motivational leader who displays sound judgment and attention to detail.
Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent listening skills
Strong organizational skills
Perceptive intuition and decision-making skills.
Remarkable professionalism and solid work ethic.
Good computer skills
Highly developed emotional intelligence
Desired Qualifications & Skills
Additional qualifications (MSC and Membership of a professional body - CASSON, NPA, NACP, etc) are a significant advantage
