    Green House Emissions & Assurance Officer

    Tasks

    • Ensure that NLNG continues to retain the License To Operate by carrying out compliance environmental monitoring activities in and around the production facilities, through monitoring strategies and protocols that highlight, address environmental breaches, and provide data to measure improvement in environmental performance.
    • Provide advice to company on Green House Gas Performance by maintaining a corporate Green House Gas management framework and assurance of 100% compliance to all Regulatory requirements and Liaise with business units on proffering solutions to resolve issues where there is noncompliance.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Develop corporate activities to establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the organization through Flare reduction, CO2 emission reduction and Green House Gas / Energy Efficiency Management.
    • Coordinate environmental performance of all production facilities in the organization in order to develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies, policies and programs that promote sustainable development including the phasing out of ozone depleting substances in NLNG’s HVAC and cooling systems in line with NLNG HSE Policy.
    • Support environmental Performance Monitoring and Reporting for production business in accordance with the established corporate standards and best practices to provide emission and waste management data for input into NLNG Benchmarking activities/accounting for the quality and critical review of environmental data reported enabling Management to prioritize and direct focused improvement actions.
    • Liaise with production Scheduling, Operations and Technology departments to recommend to the business% Losses -Weight of Intake (Flaring, Venting, Fugitive, Hydrocarbon) annual target based on calculation/estimate from all related production equipment and units. Monitor and report flaring performance on weekly basis, and losses on gas intake on monthly basis. Make PowerPoint weekly presentation on flaring to the production division multi-disciplinary team.
    • Develop and Implement NLNG annual Environmental Monitoring Plan and Measurement Protocol for ambient air quality and environmental noise measurements and assessment within the plant fence and surrounding communities of Finima and Bonny as well as aqueous discharges from the Plant, storm drain and ground water in compliance with regulatory requirement and other environmental guidelines applicable to NLNG.
    • Develop and maintain protocol to test emissions from all turbine, furnace and incinerator stacks within the Industrial Area to confirm compliance with NLNG’s Permit to operate as well as the maintenance of appropriate equipment for collecting meteorological data for emission dispersion modelling of pollutants from Plant Operations
    • Coordinate the Corrective Action Team (CAT) comprising of other departments to manage environmental incidents, breaches/exceedances from releases, discharges and emissions arising from NLNG plant operations to determine required remedial action, including escalation to Senior Management and to the Government Regulators via ERG.
    • Manage the integrated 3rd party environmental monitoring contract, equipment maintenance and calibration planning, PTW interface in order to carry out environmental inspections and assessments, identify deficiencies, report on non-compliances, review and send reports to FME & DPR.

    • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Environmental/Biological Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering at Second Class Lower Division (2.2) and above.
    • Minimum of 5 years post-graduation work experience, out of which 3 years should have been in a similar position in a reputable organization preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
