    Grants Writer

    Role Description

    • This is a contract role for a Grants Writer.
    • As a Grants Writer, you will be responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities, writing and submitting grant proposals, and managing the grant application process.
    • Works with clinicians to submit grant applications, overseeing the grant application process from beginning to end.
    • This is an on-site role located at NLCC in Lagos State, Nigeria.

    Responsibilities

    • Keep the centre updated about various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each.
    • Curates and updates clinicians about research funding opportunities, clinical trial opportunities and other research opportunities.
    • Creates, curates and maintains a robust and up-to-date research funding opportunity database to keep staff informed and aware of opportunities.
    • Supervises and maintains centre's registrations and certifications for funding and training opportunities.
    • Provides a weekly report of grants to share new funding opportunities to staff
    • Discusses available sources of funding with administrative managers.
    • Compiles necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other units, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
    • Works with centre's staff to draft and complete grant applications according to application requirements.
    • Ensures grants are submitted on time and within application parameters.
    • Completes all documents, forms, or reports required by the grant.
    • Maintains a library of funded and non-funded grant applications to enable future applications.
    • Develops and maintains master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.
    • Coordinates the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are funded by grants.
    • Seeks out, coordinates and facilitates grant writing training opportunities for staff.
    • Updates the management and centre's staff about relevant grant training opportunities and trainings.
    • Ensures all centre's staff active in research have and maintain up to date biographical sketches following most recent NIH templates.
    • Works with unit leaders seek out and develop relationships with clinical research organizations (CROs) to facilitate clinical trials and funded research.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Administration:

    • Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation, including such information as funding agency requirements and forms, investigator profiles, biosketches and curriculum vitae, abstracts and reference literature, and other pertinent material.
    • Provides training and guidance to researchers and center consultants on the application of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures; facilitates and supports the research and identification of funding opportunities on behalf of investigators, as appropriate.
    • Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period.
    • Maintains knowledge of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminates and/or presents changes to departments and advises on the implementation of changes, and on the impact of changes on funded operations.
    • Tracking and reporting of on-going funded research and clinical trials in the center.

    Job Requirements

    • Thorough understanding of local, state, federal and internal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding.
    • Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
    • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
    • Ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to interpret financial data and prepare budgets and financial grant reports.
    • Ability to be discreet with personal information that may be needed for some grants such as employee salaries or upcoming projects.
    • Research and Publication experience
    • Proficiency with planning and scheduling software applications.
