Our client, a fashion brand in Lagos is looking for a highly experienced General Manager to join the team.

Overview

As the General Manager of an Art Gallery, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic, operational, and commercial aspects of the gallery. This role requires a combination of business management, art expertise, and client relationship skills to ensure the smooth running of exhibitions, sales, and partnerships. You will lead a team to enhance the gallery’s reputation, maximize revenue, and support artists while maintaining excellent customer and stakeholder relationships.

Job Responsibilities

• Gallery Operations Management – Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth exhibition planning, logistics, and customer service.
• Financial & Budget Oversight – Develop and manage budgets, optimize sales, and control operational costs.
• Exhibition & Event Coordination – Plan and execute exhibitions, private viewings, and promotional events.
• Art Sales & Client Relations – Build relationships with collectors, artists, and buyers to drive revenue.
• Artist & Collection Management – Work closely with artists and curators to source, acquire, and promote artwork.
• Marketing & Public Relations – Develop marketing strategies to enhance visibility and audience engagement.
• Team Leadership – Supervise and motivate staff, ensuring excellent customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Compliance & Administration – Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and professional standards in the art industry.
• Market Research & Innovation – Stay updated on trends in the art market to attract high-value clients and artists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Management, Business Administration, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in gallery management, art sales, or a leadership role in the art industry.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary and historical art, including trends in the market.
• Proven leadership skills with experience in financial management and business development.
• Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple projects at once
