Job Summary:
The General Manager – Business Development will spearhead the company’s growth strategy across both Information Technology (SaaS Solutions) and Renewable Energy business lines.
This role combines strategic leadership, market expansion, and operational oversight, ensuring the company meets its revenue targets, strengthens its brand presence, and achieves sustainable growth across Nigeria and other African markets.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial leader with a proven record of driving B2B technology and energy sales, developing strategic partnerships, and leading high-performance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Growth & Leadership
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve sales and revenue targets across both IT Solutions and Renewable Energy divisions.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize new markets, strategic partnerships, and customer segments across Africa.
- Lead strategic planning sessions with the executive team, aligning business objectives with long-term company goals and market trends.
- Champion digital transformation and renewable energy initiatives that align with customer needs and market evolution.
2. Sales Leadership & Market Expansion
- Drive B2B and enterprise-level sales, focusing on SaaS adoption within financial institutions and renewable energy solutions for corporate clients.
- Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key clients, financial institutions, government bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Oversee the development of proposals, pricing models, and negotiation of high-value contracts to maximize profitability.
- Ensure regional market penetration by establishing robust sales pipelines across Nigeria and Africa.
- Lead and manage the sales teams for both business units, setting clear goals and ensuring consistent achievement of performance metrics.
3. Market Intelligence & Product Alignment
- Maintain a deep understanding of financial technology, SaaS solutions, and renewable energy market dynamics across Africa.
- Provide strategic feedback to the Product and Engineering teams to ensure offerings remain competitive and aligned with client demands.
- Anticipate market shifts and recommend new business models, pricing strategies, or product innovations.
4. Financial Performance & Resource Management
- Manage departmental budgets, revenue forecasts, and profitability targets.
- Analyze business performance metrics, market trends, and ROI from business initiatives.
- Drive cost-effective growth strategies that optimize operational resources without compromising quality or market share.
5. Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily operations across Business Development, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success functions.
- Foster collaboration across IT, Engineering, and Finance departments to ensure smooth delivery of projects and customer satisfaction.
- Implement efficient reporting and performance monitoring systems to track business KPIs and ensure accountability.
- Continuously refine internal processes to improve sales efficiency, client engagement, and service delivery standards.
6. Leadership & People Development
- Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing business development and sales team.
- Foster a culture of performance, innovation, and accountability across teams.
- Provide mentorship and performance feedback to department heads and key staff.
- Lead by example in demonstrating professional excellence, integrity, and customer-centricity.
7. External Relations & Representation
- Represent the company at trade shows, investor forums, conferences, and industry associations globally.
- Serve as a brand ambassador and spokesperson for the company in promoting its vision, mission, and offerings.
- Build credibility and thought leadership through strategic engagement with key stakeholders in the technology and energy sectors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in B2B Sales, Business Development, or General Management, preferably in SaaS/Fintech and Renewable Energy sectors.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful business expansion strategies in Nigeria and other African markets.
- Experience working with financial institutions, enterprise clients, and multinational partners.
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical ability, and financial literacy.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
