Jhpiego is seeking to hire an experienced Gender Expert to support the implementation of a Technical Assistance for gender analysis and integration of gender and SRMNCAH integration learnings into GC8 funding request planning.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage the detailed workplan, timelines, and milestones
Development of Inception Report
Develop and submit a desk review protocol ahead of desk review for the gender analysis.
Conduct a comprehensive desk review of existing data, literature, and reports on SRMNCAH, HIV, TB, and malaria services, applying a strong gender lens. Identify gender-related gaps, barriers and opportunities across national programmes and implementing partners to inform the gender analysis.
Submit completed desk review report
Develop draft research proposal for IRB submission
Review of data collection instruments for the gender analysis
Prepare training materials for training of Research Assistants
Support report writing and submit a draft report for the gender analysis
Prepare a powerpoint presentation of the report findings for presentation during stakeholder’s dissemination meeting
Prepare Lessons learned report from integrated SRMNCAH and HTM and gender analysis to support GC8 funding request planning
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Project Director
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree preferably, PHD or minimum master’s in development and gender studies, women studies, human rights, communication, public health, international health, international development or a related field with a minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in development and working experience in the areas gender, women’s health, gender-based violence (GBV) and human rights defence.
Understanding of the Nigerian social and political context and developments in the area of gender equality mainstreaming, women empowerment and gender-based violence programming
Strong understanding of gender analysis frameworks
Excellent diplomacy skills and a proven ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with government stakeholder and representatives from other key stakeholders such as NGOs, the private sector and donors.
Demonstrated outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, organizational, supervisory and team-building skills.
Ability to multi-task and proven knowledge and skills in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word processing, Excel and PowerPoint) is mandatory
Excellent writing and communications skills, including demonstrated technical writing skills for publication
Ability to work effectively with diverse international teams and willingness to learn and empower others
Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
