    Field Agronomist

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a knowledgeable and results-driven Field Agronomist to support crop production activities and farmer engagement initiatives in Nassarawa and Sokoto State.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with farmers, extension agents, and project teams to improve productivity, promote best agronomic practices, and ensure compliance with project standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide on-site agronomic advisory services to farmers and out-growers.
    • Conduct field visits to monitor crop performance and provide technical recommendations.
    • Train farmers on improved agricultural practices, input application, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling.
    • Support the implementation of demonstration plots and field trials.
    • Collect and report accurate field data on crop conditions, yields, and farmer activities.
    • Ensure compliance with project protocols, sustainability standards, and traceability requirements.
    • Liaise with local stakeholders, cooperatives, and community leaders.
    • Prepare periodic technical reports and field updates.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Extension, or related field.
    • Must have 0-3 years’ experience in field-based agronomy or agricultural extension services.
    • Must currently reside in Nassarawa or SokotoState.
    • Strong knowledge of crop production systems common in the states
    • Ability to work independently and travel frequently within rural communities.
    • Good data collection and reporting skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is an added advantage.
