Farm Assistant at Royal SFI Farms

JOB SUMMARY

The Farm Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the fish farm, ensuring proper care, growth, health, and management of fish seedlings and farm facilities. The role requires physical activity, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high farm standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fish Seedling Management

• Receive, count, and record incoming fish seedlings.
• Stock seedlings into designated ponds or vats.
• Monitor fish growth and survival rates daily.
• Grade seedlings by size to ensure uniform growth.
• Separate weak, injured, or unhealthy fish when necessary.

Feeding Operations

• Feed fish according to the approved feeding schedule.
• Ensure correct feed quantity and proper distribution.
• Monitor feeding response and report unusual behavior.

Fish Health Monitoring

• Observe fish daily for signs of disease, stress, or mortality.
• Remove dead fish immediately and record losses.
• Report health concerns promptly to management.
• Assist in treatment and preventive health measures.

Harvesting & Stocking

• Assist in fish harvesting activities.
• Sort harvested fish according to size or customer requirement.
• Handle fish carefully to reduce stress and mortality.
• Prepare ponds for new stocking after harvest.

Pond & Facility Maintenance

• Clean ponds, tanks, vats, and surrounding areas.
• Carry out minor repairs on ponds, pipes, nets, and farm equipment.
• Maintain water quality and ensure clean water supply.
• Help monitor drainage and water flow systems.

Record Keeping

Maintain daily farm records including:

• Stocking records
• Mortality records
• Feed usage records
• Growth records
• Harvest records

Farm Environment & Safety

• Keep farm premises clean and organized.
• Follow farm biosecurity and safety procedures.
• Prevent contamination and maintain hygiene standards.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of SSCE / OND (Agriculture or related field is an advantage)
• Prior fish farming experience is an added advantage
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Honest, hardworking, and responsible
