The Director of Finance will play a pivotal role in the pre-opening phase ensuring robust financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes are established. This leader will work closely with the General Manager and other department heads to drive financial performance and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the hotel’s goals. Prepare detailed budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support decision-making.
Reporting & Compliance: Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as brand standards.
Operational Support: Collaborate with department heads to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance revenue generation strategies. Provide financial insights to improve operational performance.
Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Pre-Opening Financial Setup: Establish accounting systems and procedures for the hotel’s opening phase. Coordinate with external auditors and financial institutions as needed.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure the hotel operates efficiently. Implement effective cash management strategies.
Qualifications & Experiences
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance management within the hospitality industry.
Pre-Opening experience is an advantage.
Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Opera, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
