Consultancy for Grant,Proposal Writing, ProjectDevelopment, and Fundraising Training
Background
Terre des hommes (Tdh) works closely with local partnerorganizations to strengthen institutional capacity, sustainability, and local ownership of development and humanitarian interventions. A key capacity gap identified among partners is limited expertise in grant acquisition, proposal development, project design, and diversified fundraising.
To address this gap, Tdh seeks the services of a qualified consultant to deliver a comprehensive capacity-strengthening training for partner organizations focused on grant and proposal writing, project development, and fundraising strategies, enabling partners to mobilize resources independently and sustainably.
Purpose of the Consultancy
The purpose of this consultancy is to buildthe technical capacityof Tdh-supported partnersto design high-quality projects, develop competitive funding proposals, and implement effective fundraising strategies aligned with donor priorities and community needs.
TrainingObjectives
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the donor funding landscape(institutional, foundations, privatesector, and philanthropic donors).
- Develop strong project concepts aligned with donor priorities and community needs.
- Apply structured projectdevelopment approaches, including problem analysis, Theoryof Change, and LogFrame design.
- Write clear, compelling, and compliant grant proposals.
- Develop realistic budgets and supporting narratives.
- Identify and apply diversified fundraising strategies beyondtraditional grants.
- Improve proposal review,quality assurance, and submission readiness.
- Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Conducting a brief pre-training needs assessment.
- Designing a context-specific training curriculum and agenda.
- Delivering participatory, hands-on training sessionscovering:
- Overview of the donor and funding landscape.
- Project identification and concept note development.
- Problem analysis, stakeholder analysis, and Theoryof Change.
- Logical Framework and results-based design.
- Proposal structure and donor compliance requirements.
- Budget development and budget narrative writing.
- Fundraising strategies (institutional, community-based, private sector).
- Partnership building and consortium approaches.
- Proposal review, qualitycontrol, and submission processes.
- Facilitating group work, simulations, and practical writingexercises.
- Supporting participants to draft or improve real concept notes or proposals.
- Providing post-training recommendations for organizational fundraising improvement.
- Training Durationand Structure
The training will be deliveredover five (5) full days, structured as follows:
- Day 1: Donor Landscape, Funding Opportunities, Project Identification
- Day 2: Project Design – ProblemAnalysis, Theory of Change, LogFrame
- Day 3: Proposal Writing – Structure, Narratives, Donor Compliance
- Day 4: Budgeting, Costing,Financial Narratives, Fundraising Strategies
- Day 5: Proposal Review, QualityAssurance, Pitching, ActionPlanning
- Deliverables
The consultant will provide:
- Pre-training assessment summary
- Detailed trainingagenda and curriculum
- Training materials (slides, templates, proposalsamples, exercises)
- Delivery of 5 full days of training
- Draft concept notes or proposaloutputs developed by participants
- Post-training evaluation analysis
- Final training report with recommendations
- Consultant Qualifications
The consultant must have:
- At least 5–7 years of experience in grant management, proposal writing, or fundraising in development/humanitarian contexts.
- Proven track record of successful donor-funded proposals.
- Strong knowledge of donor requirements (UN, EU, USAID, foundations, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience delivering capacity-building trainings.
- Excellent facilitation, writing, and analytical skills.

Tdh will provide:
- Training venue and logistics
- Participant mobilization and coordination
- Printing of training materials
- Stationery and equipment
- Administrative support
- Duration and Work Structure
The assignment will run for (5) days, from 25th to 29th May 2026, structured as follows:
- Day 1: Initialassessment, administrative preparation, and finalization of training arrangements.
- Days 2–5 Full delivery of Grant, ProposalWriting, Project Development, and Fundraising Training
- Final Day: Development of the trainingreport and submission of all administrative and required documentation.
Interested consultants should submit:
- Technical proposaloutlining approach and methodology
- Financial proposal
- Updated CV with evidenceof similar assignments
- At least two professional references
- Certificate of Incorporation (CAC Certificate): Proof of legal business registration in Nigeria (if applying as a company).
- Tax Identification Number (TIN): Proof of tax compliance (if applying as an Individual).
- Tax Clearance Certificate: Proof of tax compliance (if applying as a company).
- Valid Means of Identification: National Identity Card, Driver’s License, or International Passport.
- SCUML Registration Certificate: Evidence of registration under anti–money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations applicable to designated non-financial institutions (if applying as a company).
