    Communications and Digital Officer

    We are recruiting to fill this role with our client, a child advocacy Foundation.

    The Communication and Digital Officer will be involved in promoting the Foundation’s work and brand, interact with the public and establish productive relationships with key stakeholders and policy makers; developing and implementing plans to target audiences and spread the message about the Foundation’s work.

    Responsibilities

    • Working alongside the Communication Coordinator in developing, supporting, and promoting
    • the organisation’s communications, PR, and digital media strategy across traditional and online media platforms, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach to capture the organisation’s impact and national movement
    • Assist in developing and disseminating public relations materials that increase our visibility among stakeholders and lawmakers
    • Assist in press strategy and outreach, working to maintain and expand the organisation’s press relationships
    • Draft statements, talking points, blog posts, op-eds, speeches and press releases; respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
    • Writing, editing, and posting new web content on the official website www.ceceyara.org and other platforms
    • Provide support on reporting communications metrics and KPIs
    • Work closely with Communications Associates to coordinate the organisation’s Community
    • storytelling priorities
    • Attend and assist in covering and coordinating publicity and other live events as applicable and manage Communications Interns
    • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, investors, and community audiences that will help advance our work
    • Ensure digital marketing content aligns with our brand’s identity and message, and assist with
    • marketing campaigns as needed
    • Coordinate with multiple team members to help maintain the organisation’s messaging and editorial calendar
    • Assist in coordinating and facilitating the production, writing and/or editing of communications materials including flyers, promotional material, invitations, and website content.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed

    Required

    • B.Sc./HND in Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations, International Relations or related field
    • 3-5 years’ experience in communications and digital media, in publishing or media outlet, at a PR agency, or NGO setting
    • Excellent writing skills — experience writing and editing op-eds, blogs, press releases, and editorial content for a brand or an organization
    • Strong media relations background and experience working with press
    • Experience maintaining and managing organizational social networking accounts
    • An eye for design and proficiency in creating visual content
