    Commercial and Business Development Lead (Oil and Gas)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Developing and implementing the company's commercial strategy, including as it relates to the pricing of the company’s key inputs and its own products, marketing, and sales strategies.
    • Lead the identification and evaluation of gas assets, and support their development into commercially viable midstream ventures through comprehensive project management, including planning, time and cost management, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Leading and managing a commercial team, including setting goals, providing coaching and feedback, and evaluating performance.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with key customers and partners, including negotiating and managing contracts.
    • Identifying and developing new business opportunities, including conducting market research and analysing competitor activity.
    • Overseeing the profitability of the company’s products and services, to ensure the business is achieving its financial targets.
    • Monitoring and analysing market trends and competitor activity, identifying opportunities and threats to the company’s business activities.
    • Providing commercial input to product development and marketing initiatives, ensuring that the businesses products and services meet the needs of our customers.
    • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including environmental, health, and safety regulations.

    Education and Experience:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or similar related technical discipline from a reputable university.
    • Minimum of Seven (7) years relevant post-graduation experience gained in a commercial management role in the energy industry or similar environment.
    • Technical experience in the initial career phase prior to conversion to a commercial role is an added advantage.
    • A Master’s degree or an MBA from a reputable university is an added advantage

    Desired Skills:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria or similar markets in Africa, or globally.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills.
    • Strategic thinking and decision-making ability.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
    • Experience of engaging with C-Suite and senior management level personnel at oil and gas, commercial and industrial companies.
    • Expertise in Customer Relations Management Systems.
    • Strong financial modelling skills.
    • Strong commercial acumen.
    • Effective internal and external stakeholder relationship management including engaging with relevant regulators of oil and gas companies.
    • Experience of engaging with equity and debt investors and financial institutions on project financing for oil and gas and energy companies.
    • Highly tuned negotiation and contract management skills.
    • In-depth understanding of the Nigerian oil and gas and energy market.
    • High sense of responsibility, accountability, and dependability.
