    Bakery Manager (Grocery Retail Chain)

    Job Description

    • The ideal candidate for this role must demonstrate knowledge and experience in managing a portfolio of bakeries.
    • He or she must have managed all aspects of bakery operations, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, customer service, and team performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee all bakery operations, including production, staff management, inventory control, and financial reporting.
    • Lead and motivate the bakery team to achieve excellence in product quality, presentation, and customer service.
    • Plan and schedule production to ensure timely and efficient production of bakery items, such as breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods.
    • Maintain and monitor product quality standards, ensuring adherence to recipes, portioning, and presentation guidelines.
    • Manage inventory, including ordering and receiving ingredients, supplies, and merchandise, and conduct regular inventory audits.
    • Train and mentor bakery team members, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Manage schedules, labor costs, and payroll to optimize staffing levels and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and licensing requirements.
    • Collaborate with the management team to implement marketing initiatives, promotions, and special events to drive sales and increase customer engagement.
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards throughout the bakery.
    • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency in bakery operations.
    • Requirements Minimum of a Good First degree in any relevant field

    Relevant Culinary Or Baking Qualifications Are a Plus

    • 8-15 years of experience in bakery management, with a strong understanding of bakery production processes, techniques, and equipment
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire bakery team members
    • Excellent knowledge of bakery products, including breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods, as well as food safety and hygiene standards
    • Ability to manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and conducting regular audits
    • Ability to train and mentor bakery team members, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members
    • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
    • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
