Senior Cook at PeopleX Africa

Our client in the food and hospitality industry is hiring a skilled and disciplined Senior Cook to join a fast-paced hospitality kitchen in Abuja. This role is for a culinary professional who takes pride in execution, consistency, and leadership in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare, cook, and present high-quality meals with strong attention to taste, portioning, and plating
2. Ensure timely delivery of orders during service periods while maintaining quality standards
3. Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep planning and station coordination
4. Lead, support, and mentor junior kitchen staff to improve performance and consistency
5. Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards in line with best practices
6. Monitor ingredient freshness, minimize waste, and support inventory control
7. Contribute to menu improvement and kitchen process efficiency where needed

Requirements

1. Minimum 3–5 years of professional cooking experience, including a supervisory or senior role
2. Strong knowledge of kitchen workflow, food preparation, and presentation standards
3. Proven ability to lead under pressure in a restaurant or café environment
4. High discipline around cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
5. Excellent time management and attention to detail
6. Full-time availability and commitment to quality service
