    Advocacy, Digital Communications and Campaigns Officer

    Key Responsibilities
    Communications:

    • Develop and implement a content strategy for Project Oscar, ensuring timely communication of NNJ-related messages and updates across all channels.
    • Create clear, compelling written and digital content that communicates the importance of neonatal jaundice prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, aligning with the project's advocacy goals.
    • Write and edit diverse materials, including blog posts, press releases, reports, fact sheets, and social media content that highlight the NNJ project’s objectives, progress, and impact.
    • Create and design compelling digital content for social media showcasing WBFA programmes, initiatives and advocacy.
    • Curate visually compelling multimedia content (pictures, & videos) to raise awareness about NNJ, kernicterus, and WBFA’s maternal and child health initiatives.
    • Understand the landscape we work in, who our stakeholders are and reach those audiences.
    • Support in managing WBFA’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), ensuring timely, consistent, and relevant posting that aligns with Project Oscar’s milestones, events, and campaigns.
    • Monitor and evaluate our communications activities to improve future outputs, understand whether we’re reaching our audience and help find solutions when we need to change.
    • Support the team in maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including health professionals, donors, partners, and community leaders, ensuring timely communication and effective reporting.
    • Provide administrative assistance for Project Oscar and other assigned communications tasks, including preparing weekly and monthly progress reports for donors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
    • Help execute advocacy campaigns for NNJ prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, creating content and materials that influence policy and public attitudes towards neonatal jaundice.
    • Carry out other tasks and perform any other duties as required to support the organization’s projects.

    Skills and Experience:

    • BA/BSc/HND in Communications, Media, Public Relations, Public Health, or a related field; advanced certifications in digital media or public health communications are an advantage.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years in a communications role, ideally within an NGO, health, or advocacy-focused organization, with a demonstrated understanding of health communication campaigns, particularly those targeting maternal and child health or public health issues like NNJ.
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for a range of audiences; ability to simplify complex health topics into engaging, accessible content.
    • Proficiency in using social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) and tools for content scheduling, and analytics.
    • Familiarity with multimedia content production (photos, & videos,) and the ability to create visual assets to support campaigns and social media efforts.
    • Experience in supporting or managing projects, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • A strategic mindset and the ability to offer and receive constructively critical feedback.
    • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with drive and at pace.
    • Commitment to quality and attention to details.
