Cook and Cleaner at Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI)

Location: Monguno, Borno

General Objective

• Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Officer and the overall supervision of the Logistics Coordinator, the cook/cleaner is responsible for preparing meals for expatriates and cleaning of both office and Guest Houses in accordance with the rules of cleanliness and hygiene.
• He/She will clean the Guest House(s), compound and Office(s) of PUI personnel in order to keep these areas clean, safe and pleasant
• He/she also will take care of the laundry of PUI expatriate personnel.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Cleaning:

• Ensures that the office and Guest houses are very clean and comfortable for staff at all times. This includes cleaning and disinfecting areas as appropriate plus regular fumigation against rodents and insects.
• Empty paper and trash cans, and ensure the compound and cabbage bins don’t litter.
• Wash, dry and iron clothes belonging to PUI expatriate personnel, as well as restroom and household linen
• Clean the kitchen and refrigerator reqularly; and ensure water dispensers are cleaned and disinfected reqularly.
• Manage the stock of cleaning products and office provision under the supervision of his/her direct supervisor; and report/request items as appropriate.

Maintenance:

• Ensure that each bathroom is equipped with toilet paper, soap and a hand towels and each room is dressed every 3 days; and/or beddings are changed immediately a staff leaves the room.
• Monitor the provision of Drinking water in all premises of PUI.
• Report any repair or maintenance work needed related to hygiene to the supervisor, as well as any relevant information related to his/her responsibilities.
• Evaluate gas and monitor gas consumption.

Cookery:

• He/she is also responsible for requesting the food and equipment necessary for this work, and the maintenance of his/her workspace.
• Prepare food as per instructions of the expat staff
• Manage food and commodity stocks for expatriate accommodation
• Prepare meals according to the fixed number of people and definite planning, checking that the food is healthy and the menus varied.
• Respect the essential hygiene regulations and maintain exemplary conditions of hygiene in the kitchen and storage areas

Security:

• Ensure that no unauthorized person (except cleaner, cook and expatriates) gains access to the quarters
• Ensure that keys to the Guest Houses are surrendered to Logistics every day.
• Report any incidences like short circuiting at the GH
• The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs. The employee could be requested to perform other tasks as his/her Line Manager may judge necessary.

Qualifications

• Education Degree: Secondary level qualification
• Language skills: Fluent in English
• Work experience: Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in related field like inHotels or Hostels.
