MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Under the supervision of the General Manager and with operational reporting accountability to the

Head of Business Affairs & Operations, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing the legal aspects of our business. You will safeguard our reputation by guaranteeing that the company strictly follows law guidelines and give legal advice to management about all relevant issues.

The successful candidate will effectively ensure legal conformity and minimize the probability of exposure.

Main responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights.
• Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (IP law (With
• concentration in copyright and music law), labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
• Collaborate with management to devise efficient defence strategies.
• Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
• Communicate and liaise with partners and clients, creating relations of trust.
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces.
• Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
• Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility.
• Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation.

Knowledge/ Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or 3+ years’ experience of relevant work.
• MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an advantage.
• Experience working alongside experienced Legal Counsels.

Skills/Experience

• Proven experience as a legal counsel in the business environment.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law, IP Law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance and procedures.
• Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
• A high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Sound judgment and ability to analyse situations and information.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• A strong desire to mentor a team.
• Have strong leadership skills.
• Active in the Nigeria sound engineering ecosystem, have good, well established and relevant entertainment industry relationships
• Flexibility and adaptability skills
• Should be proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
