    Legal / Administrative Officer

    Job Summary

    A reputable Microfinance Bank based in Ekiti State is seeking a versatile, highly organized, and qualified professional for the dual role of Legal/Administrative Officer

    Reporting directly to the Managing Director/CEO, the successful candidate will handle the bank’s legal affairs, oversee human resource administration, and manage general office operations. The ideal candidate will ensure strict compliance with corporate governance, statutory legal regulations, and labor laws, while fostering an efficient working environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Legal Affairs & Corporate Governance:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, service level agreements (SLAs), lease agreements, and loan security documentation.
    • Provide sound and timely legal advice to management on regulatory compliance, operational matters, and credit recovery efforts.
    • Liaise with external solicitors regarding litigation, debt recovery cases, and perfected security assets.
    • Ensure compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Corporate Governance Guidelines and corporate filing requirements with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

    Human Resource Management:

    • Oversee the employee lifecycle, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, performance evaluation support, and offboarding processes.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date staff files and personnel records.
    • Manage employee relations, resolve workplace grievances, and interpret HR policies in compliance with the Nigerian Labour Act.
    • Monitor staff attendance, leave schedules, and coordinate training and development initiatives.

    General Administration:

    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the bank’s corporate office, ensuring a clean, safe, and productive workspace.
    • Oversee procurement, inventory management of office supplies, and facility maintenance.
    • Supervise support staff, including security personnel, drivers, and cleaning staff.
    • Manage vendor contracts and ensure timely renewal of institutional insurance policies and operating licenses.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) are mandatory. Professional certifications in Human Resource Management (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) or Administration will be a major advantage.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of post-call experience, with at least 2 years handling legal advisory, corporate governance, or human resource administration—ideally within a financial institution or structured corporate environment.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with Nigerian banking laws, CBN/NDIC regulatory frameworks for microfinance banks, corporate laws, and labor regulations.
    • Soft Skills: Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills, strong organizational abilities, excellent emotional intelligence, and a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
    • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
