Senior Legal Officer at Terawork

Role Overview

• We are seeking a Legal Officer with fintech or financial services experience to provide legal advisory, manage contracts, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate legal risks across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on commercial, regulatory, and employment matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
• Manage litigation matters and coordinate with external counsel.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
• Conduct legal research, maintain legal documentation, and provide regulatory updates.
• Support legal training and policy development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.).
• Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL) and a valid practising licence are mandatory.
• Minimum of 6 years' post-call experience.
• Mandatory experience in the fintech or financial services industry (consumer lending experience is an added advantage).
• Strong knowledge of commercial law, contract drafting, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
