There is little evidence-based research which suggests context-appropriate models of reconciliation that would be acceptable to communities, and there are few existing programmes that help communities facilitate peaceful dialogue and reconciliation. To fill this gap.

Neem Foundation through funding from UNDP seeks to procure the services of a consultant for the purpose of carrying out capacity assessments that determines the priorities, needs, and challenges to peace-building and social cohesion in conflict-affected border communities and identify entry points for supporting peace-building and reconciliation.

REQUIRED CONSULTING SERVICES

• Develop tools for community based capacity assessments that identify ways of supporting reconciliation and peace building efforts within communities affected by the insurgency.
• Develop and deploy a comprehensive tool that determines the needs, priorities and challenges to peace-building and social cohesion, and identify entry points for supporting peace-building and reconciliation in insurgency-affected border communities.
• Carry out desk research to identify existing peace and reconciliation models in Nigeria.
• Develop framework for a Peace Model which is context-specific and culturally-appropriate, that can be utilised in setting up peace committees to facilitate peace dialogues and reconciliation meetings/engagements that will help rebuild lives and create peaceful communities.
• Development and delivery of tailored, cost-effective, end-to-end professional training of communities on peace building techniques/methodologies as well as governance and management of Peace committees.
• Monitoring and evaluation to measure and track progress.
