    Economic Security Generalist (Field Officer)

    • Contribute to the implementation and running of specific projects / programs, mainly independently, Maintains contacts with interlocutors / authorities at various degree. Supervises volunteers and closely monitors beneficiaries. Contribute to written reporting

    Main duties and responsibilities

    • Is aware of the socio-political situation and livelihoods condition in the area of assignment
    • Advises the delegation in various fields such as politics, economy, religion, culture, etc. that contributes to the EcoSec activity implementation
    • Carries out detailed problem and situation analysis including technical and institutional challenges
    • Collects all relevant information in the field for the implementation of the programme and informs the delegate
    • Assess the general situation and identifies conflict affected population needs according to the EcoSec set criteria
    • Participates in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the EcoSec programme activities mainly on emergencies and livelihoods response in close collaboration with Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS)
    • Provides immediate supervisor on weekly or ad hoc basis with updated statistical and logistic data
    • Does regular internal, oral and written reporting on field visit. Immediately reports any problems or delays in the implementation of the programme or the projects to the supervisors
    • Prepares the EcoSec section of the sub-delegation`s weekly operational report independently and contributes to other departmental reporting as required.

    Education and Experience

    • University degree in Development Studies, Economics, Agriculture or related field
    • 4 years’ work experience in a similar field
    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Team leadership skills
    • Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
    • Good analytical skills
    • Good communication skills
    • Shows judgement abilities to deal with special cases and propose solutions
    • Ensures that a good atmosphere is maintained within the EcoSec department and with the other ICRC department s through adequate communication
    • Good knowledge of mobile data collection tools
    • Reports on problems (security) with accuracy and without delays.

    Job Description

    • Buyer 1 supports the procurement process in a specific Subdelegation in accordance with ICRC rules and regulations.
    • In addition provides support in the areas of Supply Chain and Transport and in the absence of the Logistics Site Manager/ Logistician and. upervises Warehousing, stock management and Fleet to JOS Sub-Delegation

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Independently carries out ordinary procurement for specific sector(s) up to a certain amount.
    • Drafts requests for tenders/quotes, selection tables and contracts and submits them to their hierarchical superior
    • Ensures that orders are delivered in time
    • Follows up on purchases and deliveries until the goods are delivered in the warehouse or on the site. Checks that they are conform with specifications and contract details. Receives goods and checks that they correspond to quantities and quality ordered.

    Multilateral Liaison Field Officer

    Multilateral Liaison Field Officer (Humanitarian Affairs Adviser 1) provides support to the ICRC Delegation in
    understanding and influencing the humanitarian environment in Nigeria. S/He also helps shaping the engagement of the
    Delegation with the ECOWAS and other international and civil society organizations.

    Main duties and responsibilities

    • Develops strategies and plans of action for ICRC’s engagement with ECOWAS and implements them;
    • Reinforce the ICRC’s network of interlocutors at ECOWAS and within international organizations working with ECOWAS;
    • Promotes International Humanitarian Law and ICRC thematic issues of concern with the ECOWAS and within international organisations working with ECOWAS;
    • Initiates and organises events with key Commissions and Directorates in ECOWAS and the diplomatic community;
    • Collects and analyses relevant information in order to identify the emerging actors and issues within ECOWAS, so as to enable, if required, an adequate positioning of the institution;
    • Conducts analyses of the general multilateral environment in Abuja Nigeria, and in West Africa;
    • Identifies, participates in and/or organises relevant events (e.g. conferences, workshops, meetings) on multilateral issues of concern to the ICRC and represent the ICRC when required;
    • Facilitates regular exchange of information between the Delegation in Abuja and other Delegations in ECOWAS Member States/the ICRC’s Delegation to the African Union (AU) as well as with HQ in Geneva.

    Education and experience required

    • Masters degree in Law, Diplomacy, International Relations or closely related fields;
    • Very good knowledge of international humanitarian law (IHL) and international affairs;
    • Minimum 4 years work experience in multilateral field with governmental, international organizations, or NGO;
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English and good knowledge of French;
    • Knowledge of treaty implementation or governmental/parliamentary law-making processes.

    • Very good drafting as well as analytical reporting capacities;

    Healthcare in Danger Assistant

    Health Care in Danger Assistant in Abuja provides support to the ICRC Delegation in defining, coordinating and implementing activities linked to the protection of wounded and sick, health care personnel, facilities and means of transport in Nigeria. H/She contributes to raise awareness and to mobilize key stake-holder on the respect due to the
    medical mission.

    Main duties and responsibilities

    • Contributes to the analysis of the main challenges affecting health care in Nigeria;
    • Supports the Delegation in defining and implementing HCiD activities in a coherent manner through a Delegation- approved strategy;
    • Supports all the sites - in cooperation with Protection, Assistance (Health), Prevention and Cooperation Departments - in the planning, implementation and assessment of local and contextualized projects on HCiD;
    • Mobilizes humanitarian stakeholders and relevant national authorities (in particular the Ministry of Health) to promote the establishment of a platform for monitoring and data sharing of HCiD incidents, supporting the
    • protection of medical missions, and promoting the respect of medical ethics;
    • Supports the management of the Delegation in mobilizing and convening concerned stakeholders on the issue (humanitarian diplomacy) while raising awareness and sensitizing them on the topic;
    • Facilitates the engagement of, and collaboration with, the Nigerian Red Cross Society in HCiD activities;
    • Ensures and maintains transversal coordination and fluid communication within the Delegation - in particular
    • through the organization of regular HCiD Steering Committee meetings;
    • Execute administrative tasks related to HCiD.

    Education and experience required

    • University degree in health or equivalent field;
    • 4 years’ work experience in health management field or in a humanitarian organization;
    • Coordination of multidisciplinary projects and solid organizational skills;
    • Awareness of the socio-political and medical environment in Nigeria;
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
    • Good command of Hausa, Igbo, and/or Yoruba as asset;
    • Excellent computer skills.
