Job description
We seek to recruit high-potential candidates to develop into Telco IT specialists. The selected candidates will work in either Network Management, Server administration or Application Support. Each candidate would receive training specific to their tower, as well as training on Service Management and Basics of Telecom IT.
Main responsibilities will include:
• Working with Competency managers, ensuring smooth IT operations for a leading Telco in Africa
• Interacting directly with client team members onsite
• Developing proficiency in one or more areas to become a subject matter expert (SME)
• Preparing data for Management Reporting (and presenting occasionally to local management)
• Undergoing continuous training and development incorporating common soft skills education and specialised classes for IBM
Strengths and Experience
While exposure in computer science / IT is a pre-requisite, what we are primarily looking for is:

This job role requires strong skills and knowledge related to Facilities, Design and Construction market and projects in Africa. Responsible for developing a sustainable Sourcing strategy. Managing E2E Facility & Construction projects to ensure that Procurement can support IBM on the Africa Infra expansion.
In addition the role is responsible for supporting procurement activities such as business operations, policies and practices, global compliance, supplier contract development and negotiation in support of complex services engagements, and client services geo management. Responsibilities may include interfacing and supporting IBM's country, regional and/or worldwide procurement teams and processes and supporting IBM strategic supply issues.

Provides advice, guidance and assistance to country general managers, HR and Legal executives, business units and all members of the IBM management team in areas related to public policy and government relations. Provides “thought leadership” on emerging issues and is perceived by government leaders as the “advisor of choice” on public policy issues based on demonstrated expertise and personal relationships. . Communication/Negotiation - Superior communications and interpersonal skills. Regular interaction with senior IBM management at regional and country levels. Extensive external contacts with senior government officials, industry associations and executives of other corporations. Persuasive communicator with the ability to understand and accommodate diverse views in negotiating changes in government policies and regulations to meet IBM’s needs. Ability to handle complex and sensitive negotiations with absolute integrity.
Problem Solving - Anticipates changes in public policies and governmental regulations that are required to meet IBM’s current and future business. Drives the development of innovative strategies and action plans to address these issues. “Sells” these strategies both internally and externally. Develops proactive action plans and solutions to improve IBM’s operating environment.
