    Manager- Business Development & Strategic Partnership

    Famkris Healthcare Initiative is seeking a Business Development and Strategic Partnership Manager (BDM) who will be a part of a growing and ambitious Country Office Program and Portfolio. The purpose of this role is to lead, coordinate, and support resource mobilization, with the aim to grow and diversify the country office portfolio. This includes pro-actively researching funding opportunities and working closely with the Country team and other FHCI Staff and partners to identify bilateral and multilateral funding streams that align with the vision of the organisation. The role will also build and maintain strategic relationships with civil society, government, private sector and development partners and individuals that will strengthen FHCI’s strategic presence in the country and mobilise  resources for effective programme delivery. This is a strategic role  at the core of the organization’s development and growth.

    The Manager, Business Development & Strategic Partnership is responsible for the day-to-day management of FHCI resource mobilization efforts. The role also supports strategic partnership and promote policies and laws that encourage  philanthropy and sustainable resourcing advancing  FHCI’s mission in Africa./

    Key Responsibilities:

     Job Responsibility #1: Resource Mobilization/Business development                                          

    • Lead the development and implementation of Famkris Healthcare Initiative’s Resource Mobilization strategy.
    • Advise country office leadership on potential funding opportunities, donor priorities and requirements including reporting timeliness and expectations. 
    • Provide oversight, and management, of the entire proposal development process, ensuring proposals are  compliant and donor-responsive and aligned with both funder  requirements and FHCI internal standards.Supportand coordinate proposal development processes and  working groups with representatives from key departments as needed   ensuring  key actions are delegated and deadlines are met. . 
    • Draft proposals and concept notes and facilitate design workshops as needed  depending on the nature of the funding opportunities,
    • Establish and maintain regular contacts with agencies as appropriate, covering a specific set of donors to be agreed upon. This entails contributing to maintaining networks and actively engaging in knowledge sharing, information dissemination on FHCI. 
    • Prepare and participate in internal/external meetings with donors-thematic meetings and related resource mobilization events. 
    • Support  the negotiation and signing of new funding agreements, working in close collaboration with relevant units of the organisation. 
    • Maintain up to date knowledge on donor funded projects and ensure reporting is submitted  to the donor in a timely manner.
    • Support  the drafting of external reports and work with programme teams to finalize these in accordance with requirements and timelines. 
    • Lead on the creation of products, packaged and positioned to attract and secure increased resources for Famkris Healthcare Initiative.
    • Drive improvements in new business development and fundraising practices across the country office, including planning and positioning, and intelligence gathering. 
    • Build and manage relationships with strategic partners (including institutions) at different levels, current and potential donors to support the country’s program development and implementation.

    Job Responsibility #2: Partnership Development                                                               

    • Carry out periodic strategic partnership mapping and identification, as well as facilitate mutual appraisal, and risk assignment of potential strategic partners for effective and successful partnership. 
    • Facilitate effective negotiation, development, appropriate signing, and management of partnership agreement between identified organizations/ institutions and FHCI.
    • Build and maintain relationships with FHCI’s networks, donors, peer organizations, and civil society stakeholders, while providing relevant, effective, and timely support to all current and new donors and partners.
    • Support in carrying out annual partnership reviews for improved relationships and effective attainment of the partnership objectives.
    • Promotes and ensures Famkris Healthcare Initiative partnership principles, values and standards are understood and applied in all partnership relationships in Africa.

    Job Responsibility #3: Capacity Building                                                                  

    • Ensure that capacity building plans and performance management systems are in place to develop the requisite resource mobilization competencies in staff to ensure ongoing sustainability and quality of response.
    • Coach and mentor staff and link them into wider organizational talent development mechanisms.
    • Work closely with the program director/ Country Director - to identify staff and partner capacity building gaps, needs, and draw plans to provide relevant capacity building.

    Job Responsibility #4: Team Management                                                                 

    • Manage and co-ordinate resource mobilization efforts across all teams, ensuring correct, fully transparent, and accountable financial, administrative and operational procedures are followed.
    • Manage Staff performance and provide regular feedback to staff including interns and volunteers on their performance.
    • Liaise with other teams to obtain input and support for the work of your team.
    • Ensure all procurement is in accordance with FHCI and donor guidelines.
    • Submit all internal progress reports (monthly, quarterly) in a timely manner.

     Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree from any discipline, including  social studies, Economics or Finance. A post-graduate degree (master’s or higher) on development related discipline would be an advantage.
    • Have at least 7 years’ experience working in the development/ NGO/ INGO sector, including field and management experience.
    • Extensive experience in strategic partnership development and management.
    • Demonstrated experience working with and mobilizing resources from a multiplicity of donors, including institutional, foundation, individual, bilateral and multilateral donors.
    • Compelling influencer and communicator – able to inspire, build consensus and bring people together around a common agenda.
    • Experience with identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders at all levels including, government, civil society, international organizations and private sector.
    • Demonstrated expertise in project design, management and grant development.
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity and willingness to innovate.
    • Experience in drafting project reports and developing budgets.
    • Experience of managing multi-cultural teams and ability to build, develop and motivate a high performing team, prioritizing effective cross organizational working as a key element of high performance.
