    Senior Risk Officer

    Summary

    • The position holder will be pivotal in shaping the organisation’s risk management strategy across its investment portfolio. He/she will oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with investments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safeguarding the organisation’s interests.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies that align with corporate objectives.
    • Identify, assess, and prioritise risks across the organisation’s investment portfolio and operational activities.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.
    • Collaborate with various departments to ensure an integrated approach to risk management across the organisation.
    • Prepare detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management and the board, providing insights into risk exposure and mitigation efforts.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards related to risk management and reporting.
    • Facilitate the development and execution of risk management training programmes for staff to enhance risk awareness and compliance.
    • Monitor emerging risks and industry trends to adapt risk management strategies accordingly.
    • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during risk assessments and compliance reviews.
    • Support the organisation in crisis management and business continuity planning.
    • Assist in the development of investment proposals, providing risk-related insights and recommendations.
    • Oversee the establishment of key risk indicators (KRIs) to measure and track risk exposure across the organisation.
    • Lead efforts in fostering a risk-aware culture throughout the organisation.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field from a reputable university.
    • Relevant professional and postgraduate qualification(s) will be an advantage.

    Knowledge, Skills And Expereince

    • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
    • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and frameworks, including qualitative and quantitative analysis.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
    • Proficiency in risk management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management.
    • Excellent networking skills, particularly relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • High ethical standards and level of integrity.

    Associate, Legal

    Summary

    • The position holder will support the legal function by assisting with a range of legal matters that are critical to the organisation’s success in managing its international investments.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Support the provision of ongoing legal and regulatory advisory for operational and investment-specific matters across the organisation.
    • Support the provision of advice of a general nature on labour, current legislation on tax, finance, investment, and other matters that are relevant to the functions and objectives of the Organisation.
    • Assist with managing relationships with external solicitors and arbitrators.
    • Monitor, report, and advise on litigation claims and ensure minimal damage is sustained by the Organisation.
    • Support Interactions with relevant regulatory authorities on behalf of the organisation and provide backstopping in all meetings with MDAs and other stakeholders on legal matters relating to the operation of the organisation or prospective investments.
    • Use of world-class standards of governance, business integrity, and environmental and social stewardship including support for Know-Your-Customer and Anti-Money Laundering procedures, and reputational management.
    • Draft and or review of company’s policies, guidelines, frameworks, communications, contracts as well as legal documentation to which the company is a party before the General Counsel’s review/sign-off.
    • Assist in the provision of general sector and investment support where applicable, drawing on international experience and effective practice.
    • Assist with legal document retention, storage, and custody.
    • Any other responsibility shall be assigned by the General Counsel or Executive Management from time to time.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputable university and qualified to practice in Nigeria (L.L.B. and B.L.)
    • Relevant professional and postgraduate qualification(s) will be an advantage.

    Knowledge, Skills And Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian legal system
    • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Political savvy, maturity, and tact, including the ability to relate with different levels of authority within the legal sphere.
    • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and high level of integrity.
    • Commendable level of attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in the use of office productivity tools.
    • Excellent networking skills, particularly relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    Assistant Vice President, Legal

He/she will ensure that all legal aspects of investment activies across different regions and sectors are meticulously handled, safeguarding the organisation's interests while fostering compliance with regulatory standards.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design and implement comprehensive legal strategies that align with global corporate objectives.
    • Provide strategic counsel on high-stakes investment transactions and corporate governance across international markets.
    • Cultivate relationships with external legal advisors and key stakeholders worldwide.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the legal team to enhance performance and expertise.
    • Lead all legal aspects of new and ongoing infrastructure investment projects.
    • Attend meetings with key stakeholders to address legal issues on infrastructure investments.
    • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalise legal documents for investment activities.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, analysing precedents and recommending appropriate legal actions.
    • Provide sector and investment advice, leveraging international best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with governance, business integrity, environmental, and social standards, including KYC and AML requirements.
    • Review and advise on legal drafts and standard documentation, offering expertise on regulatory and investment structures.
    • Conduct legal due diligence for potential investments and stakeholders.
    • Advise on deal structures and terms, ensuring the bankability of transactions.
    • Assist in setting up dedicated holding companies to attract capital, develop investor-friendly environments, and manage specialised teams.
    • Collaborate on transaction development, supporting legal negotiations for MOUs, heads of terms, and letters of intent.
    • Liaise with the procurement team to select and manage legal service providers for transactions, including negotiating engagement terms.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university and qualified to practice in Nigeria (L.L.B. and B.L.)
    • Relevant professional and postgraduate qualification(s) will be an advantage.

    Knowledge, Skills And Expereince

    • A minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience, four (4) of which must have been at a strategic management level.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian legal system.
    • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Political savvy, maturity, and tact, including the ability to relate with different levels of authority within the legal sphere.
    • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and high level of integrity.
    • Team player who collaborates with ease and has contagious creative energy.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
