    Senior GBV Officer (Prevention & Response)

    Responsibilities

    • Provides technical support to national partner staff for program start up, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all GBV emergency response activities.
    • Providing technical assistance to the field staff and partners, by designing and rolling out capacity building activities and trainings on all GBV/protection, ensuring on the job coaching and mentoring.
    • Undertakes regular (weekly, bi-weekly) field monitoring visits to assess progress and identify technical quality and/or other implementation issues, flag these to the GBV PM, provide solutions and implement modifications as required.
    • Guides and support implementation of all project activities (including overseeing case management, PSS, Skills acquisition, age-appropriate engagement, prevention, and risk mitigation), providing affirming feedback, highlight strengths and weaknesses, and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Supports NCA and its partner in adapting case management tools and implementing the GBVIMS/ Primero, ensuring strict compliance with confidentiality policy and guidelines for information sharing of GBV data.
    • Assists with monitoring of activities and implementation of databases and data collection tools to systematize and streamline ethical and safe data collection and reporting across partners.
    • Under the supervision of PM Work with GBV staff and partner to assess training needs and develop a training and capacity develop plan for to ensure successful transfer of skills, knowledge, and attitudes to improve GBV responses. Organise trainings as per learning needs assessment and co-facilitate trainings.
    • Prepares weekly and monthly reports as per agreed templates documenting all mentoring activities, success and challenges, and support partner in developing monthly/quarterly reports.
    • Participates in the review of documents submitted by partners (i.e., narrative reports, work plans, spending plans, etc.).
    • Develops monthly work plan and regular reports in line with the goals and objectives of the program.
    • Works with other sector staff to promote integrated programming across sectors to maximize the impact of response and recovery programming and avoid knowledge and performance gaps, paying attention to ASRH, gender, disability, and child protection
    • Works closely with the M&E team to establish and submit effective field level activity and indicator tracking, weekly and monthly tracking, CFM, ensuring GBV complaints are managed appropriately and in a timely manner.
    • Ensures strong information management and sharing, pro-active teamwork and coordination with GBV teams (including volunteers).
    • Reinforces adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all GBV activities through the national partner.
    • Provides technical support and implementation of GBV prevention/ risks mitigation including SASA! Together, Male Engaged and facilitate mainstreaming GBV/ ASRH /risk mitigation, prevention, and response in NCA WASH and ASRH sectors
    • Collaborates with finance/admin and logistics to ensure program supplies and resources are available in a timely manner to support program implementation.
    • Performs other duties, as needed, or requested by the supervisor.

    Working Relationships

    • Maintains frequent communication with GBV Officers and GBV Program Manager to ensure GBV activities and objectives are communicated.
    • Works with other program and operations staff at the field locations to ensure the coordination of GBV activities are managed smoothly.

    Security

    • Ensures application and compliance of security protocols and policies.
    • Facilitates emergency and non-emergency security expenditures.
    • Actively promotes PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within NCA and amongst beneficiaries served by NCA.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, nursing, public health, social sciences, gender studies, humanities, law, or other related discipline.

    Experience

    • 2-3 years’ experience with minimum of one year’s relevant experience in GBV in emergencies, protection, and gender programming.
    • Language skills: fluent verbal/written English and local language.
    • Experience of supervising field staff required

    Experience & technical skills

    • Must have strong GBV Minimum Standards knowledge.
    • Strong knowledge of IASC GBV Guidelines and Gender Handbook, Humanitarian Principles, IASC Protection and CP minimum standards and guidelines.
    • Strong understanding of case management principles, procedures, and practices, psychosocial support, and life skills programming to promote survivor healing and recovery.
    • Knowledgeable about GBV, crisis intervention, counselling skills and techniques.
    • Must be comfortable to attend and facilitate internal/external meetings, representing GBV issues.
    • Practical field experience working in camps or spontaneous/informal/makeshift settlements required.
    • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in team setting.
    • Strong ability to organise work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritise work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills, problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility.
    • Ability to communicate sensitively and without judgment, good diplomatic and persuasion skills.

    GBV Case Management Worker

    Responsibilities

    • Provides age-appropriate case management to survivors of GBV, including assessment of survivor’s needs, basic crisis counselling; developing a plan to address individual needs and safely implementing this plan to pursue services from other service providers as per survivor’s wishes.
    • Provides group PSS to women and girls; facilitates sessions focused on building awareness of different themes related to their wellbeing and safety and deliver key messages on GBV/ASRH.
    • Supports the Adolescent Girls Facilitators to conduct age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services for adolescent girls through identified or established safe spaces.
    • Provides essential information on available services and supports survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing services and identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols and GBV guiding principles and bring these concerns to the GBV Officer – response.
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.
    • Documents all program and beneficiary’s activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms.
    • Completes weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the GBV Officer – response.
    • Performs all other duties, as needed, or requested by the supervisor.

    Adolescent Girls/Boys Assistant

    Responsibilities

    • With the support of the GBV/ASRH officer carry out an assessment to identify adolescents, adolescents’ parents and mentors using an established criterion.
    • Map adolescent spaces within the community, and support regular update of the referral pathway
    • Working closely with other project staffs to recruit girls, boys, adolescents’ parents, and mentors.
    • Conduct trainings for the selected groups using the above toolkits
    • Supervise and support mentors on rolling out the various curriculum for the different groups
    • Identify training needs and plan for CCS and psychosocial trainings for service providers including case management for survivors of gender-based violence.
    • Provide basic psychological first aid and support adolescents to access social services needed
    • Promote and empower adolescents to practice knowledge and skills acquired.
    • Conduct monthly parents’ discussion sessions using Girls Shine and CSE targeting adolescent parents.
    • Organizing age and gender segregated group educational and social activities, and holding regular, individual meetings with mentors.
    • Host coordination meetings with community stakeholders, parents etc.
    • Working closely with school authorities, teachers, and parents to ensure that girls’ stay in school
    • Collect, compile, summarize and submit weekly report on Adolescent girls and boys activities to GBV/ASRH Officer.
    • Facilitate or lead educational, psychosocial, and recreational activities for adolescents in the WGSSs and or Community spaces.
    • Support Girls, boys and parents Committees or groups to operate within the Women and Girls’ Safe Space and communities in a safe and collaborative way.
    • With support from the GBV/SRH Officers consult with key external stakeholders (including girls, boys, parents, mentors, and other relevant organizations) to obtain information which will enhance program implementation.
    • Communicate and advocate for girls’ and boys’ unique needs and need for continued focus on adolescent girls as active participants and agents of change in their communities.
    • Perform all other duties, as needed, or requested by the supervisor.
