    Mainstreaming Officer

    ABOUT THE JOB: 

    The Mainstreaming Officer will be responsible for the timely and quality delivery of field level activities with technical support from the coordinator, She/he will manage the team and ensure the smooth running of program in close coordination with other Protection actors. She will ensure that survivor cantered approach is adhered to and GBV survivors and other vulnerable women and girls receive prompt and comprehensive services.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The Mainstreaming Officer will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:

    • Work closely with safeguarding and protection focal points to ensure safe and dignified programming.
    • Ensure key cross-cutting themes such as gender, age, disability, protection, safeguarding, accountability, and conflict sensitivity are integrated across sectors (e.g., food security, WASH, health).
    • Support the Coordinator to conduct child protection and GBV assessments using the Inter-agency Child Protection Assessment Resource Toolkit. Adapt the Assessment Tool as necessary to GBV survivors. Coordinate with other SC thematic areas, the national/district Child Protection Working Group and/or other external sector agencies of GBV, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all. 
    • Ensure that humanitarian programs do no harm, uphold the dignity, rights, and safety of affected populations, and mitigate protection risks.
    •  Promote safe access to services for women, children, older persons, people with disabilities, and minority groups.
    • Build the staff capacity to provide direct and appropriate support services to GBV survivors.
    • Conduct gender, protection, or inclusion analyses and assessments to inform program planning.
    • Support the integration of gender violence cases into other CP case management processes, CPIMS, CFS, and PSS.
    • Ensure survivors of gender-based violence are timely identified and provided counselling and other appropriate response services.
    • Ensure relevant referral forms are in place and implemented accordingly. 
    • Coordinate monthly meetings including, parent’s forum and child protection committee
    • Provide essential psychosocial first aid support to children and adults when needed.
    • Take lead in Prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence in project communities.
    • Mentor, supervise and monitor of gender-based violence implementation and draft monitoring action plan for quality control. 
    • Conduct or support Gender and Inclusion Analysis to inform program design.
    • Advocate for and facilitate the inclusion of women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups in project planning, implementation, and decision-making processes.
    • Carryout any other duties as outlined by the supervisor. 
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by CP Coordinator.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    • Teamwork: develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
    • Delivering result: Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
    • Accountability: Attended trainings on GBV and is aware of protection issue
    • Communication: Proven experience in similar function desirable.
    • Experience in GBVIMS and case management- Highly required 
    • Flexible and willing to work and stay in rural communities especially field based
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.

    Qualification: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Social Work, Counselling, Psychiatric Nurse or a related field
    • Bachelor degree in in psychology, social sciences, public health, nursing required or any related field from a certified tertiary institution.
    • Proven experience (at least 3 years) in providing mental health and psychosocial support, with a strong understanding of best practices and intervention strategies.
