    Project Assistant

    Overview of position

    • Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), Head of Sub Office for the northeast & the Transition & Recovery Program Coordinator & the direct supervision of the National Durable Solutions Officer in Maiduguri (for the position based in Damaturu) & the National Durable Solutions Officer in Yola (for the position based in Yola) & in collaboration with relevant units, the successful candidate will be responsible & accountable for the day to day planning, implementation & monitoring of the access to basic services including education & Community Based Planning (CBP) components of the durable solutions work withing the EU Support for Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria (SIDPIN) project.

    Role Objectives

    • Assist the planning, implementation & monitoring of project activities.
    • Support the community mobilization, community engagement & community based planning activities.
    • Support the platforms & forums for structured community participation, feedback & complaint mechanisms, community sensitization & community driver projects.
    • Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units & external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process & follow up on administrative actions, based on the guidance of immediate supervisor.
    • Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery & bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
    • Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations & other forms of documentation.
    • Organize meetings, workshops & training sessions.
    • Respond to general information requests & inquiries; set up & maintain files/records.
    • Support the promotion of access to basic services including education for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP's) & host communities through system strengthening, expanding, rehabilitating & equipping.
    • Collaborate with various government & non government entities providing access to basic services for collaboration.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Project reporting:

    Key Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Education, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience or school diploma with four years of relevant experience.
    • Direct experience on community mobilization, community engagement & participation.
    • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national / international institutions, United Nations (UN) agencies & non governmental organizations.
    • Experience in working with IDP's, host communities, migrants, refugees, victims of trafficking & other vulnerable groups.
    • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non government or government institutions / organization in a multi cultural setting is an advantage.
    • Experience in training & facilitation of sessions at grassroots level for local communities.
    • Skills & experience in facilitating community dialogues through structured process.
    • Referral & follow up beneficiary for access to basic services, experience on education is favorable.
    • In depth knowledge of the internal displacement context & durable solutions.
    • Knowledge of UN & bilateral donor programming.
    • Knowledge of financial rules & regulations.
    • Fluency in English & French (oral & written).
    • Working knowledge of Arabic.

    ICRS Socio Economic Counselling Assistant

    Overview of position

    • Working under the overall supervision of the DDRR Project Officer & under the direct supervision of the ICRS Project Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the planning, implementation & monitoring of socio economic counselling & assistance to ICRS beneficiaries.
    • The ICRS project activities will be directly supervised by the ICRS Officer as the individual case management component of the DDRR program in Nigeria.

    Role Objectives

    • Assist in the planning, counselling, implementation & monitoring of the ICRS socio economic activities, including ICRS beneficiary profiling survey & data entry.
    • Conduct service providers mapping & identify local partners for possible cooperation in assisting the target population & referral for socio economic opportunities.
    • Assist working with ICRS Field Support Staff in the implementation & documentation of socio economic assistance activities, success stories, lessons learnt, impact & monitor closely each activity draft weekly & monthly plans & reports as well as draft adhoc activity reports when requested.
    • Facilitate collation of beneficiary mentoring & monitoring reports & conduct data entry on database on weekly & monthly basis.
    • Undertake regular field visits to support the implementation of socio economic activities & ensure immediate response to challenges faced by beneficiaries in the field when possible.
    • Assist the program to ensure effective, efficient & flexible implementation of approved ICRS projects / grants.
    • Closely monitor each activity & report any challenges or delays to ICRS Officer in timely manner.
    • Maintain friendly, open & professional communications with local counterparts, beneficiaries, contractors, suppliers, other agencies & organizations as well as local & national authorities.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the ICRS Project Officer or the Unit Supervisor.

    Key Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics or other relevant Social Sciences or an equivalent combination of education & training.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in income generating / livelihood projects, business development, community economic development, conflict resolution, community participation & / or psychosocial projects, ideally in the humanitarian sector.
    • Previous work experience with an international organization will be considered an asset. 
    • Computer literacy, analytical & interpersonal skills are required.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to travel extensively & work long hours.
    • A drive for results & ability to handle multiple tasks. 
    • Fluency in English & locally spoken languages.

    ICRS Junior Psychosocial Support Assistant

    Overview of position

    • Working under the overall supervision of the DDRR Project Officer & under the direct supervision of the ICRS Project Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for in coordination with other members of the ICRS team in Gombe & Maiduguri will be responsible for providing quality psychosocial support to the beneficiaries of the ICRS project to improve their overall mental health as part of our clients DDRR program in Nigeria.

    Role Objectives

    • Provide psychosocial first aid to the target population.
    • Become fully familiar with psychological & psychosocial activities under the ICRS system & apply this knowledge to plan & implement regular individual & group recreational, educational & sensitization activities for beneficiaries as well as support groups & conflict mediation if necessary.
    • Provide individual counselling sessions tailored to the needs of the target population along with follow up sessions when deemed necessary.
    • Conduct & regularly update mental health & psychosocial assessments with ICRS beneficiaries.
    • Conduct ICRS profiling interviews & ensure accurate data entry when required.
    • Identify cases that require specialized institutions support & coordinate referral.
    • Identify cases for conducting psychosocial group activities & conduct the same.
    • Implement psychosocial support during family & community visits as well as bereavement support when necessary.
    • Update existing ICRS monitoring, evaluation & reporting tools such as databases according to deadlines established by the ICRS Officer.
    • Under the leadership of the ICRS Team Leader participate in regular staff meetings & other meetings with implementing partners & other relevant stakeholders.
    • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein & / or assigned by the ICRS Project Officer.

    Key Competencies

    ICRS Database Assistant

    Overview of position

    • Under the overall supervision of the DDRR Program Manager & under the direct supervision of the ICRS Program Officer, the successful candidate will provide data management support, data entry & data quality control for the DDRR database activities across the DDRR program.

    Role Objectives

    • Provide database management support & technical assistance for DDRR profiled data & clean the data for the data migration exercise.
    • Assist in troubleshooting & resolving issues related to the database, applications, software used for data capture, equipment & network to ensure systems run smoothly.
    • Participate in data collection, data entry & maintenance of program related databases & files.
    • Generate timely reports from the database based on the project’s requirements.
    • Support in training & ensure the successful completion of duties by consolidating backlog data from staff & directly involved in data entry to maintain the quality of data entered into the ICRS database system.
    • Implement our clients control modalities to ensure the proper completion of data entry.
    • Perform daily backups of the database.
    • Conduct data quality checks & data cleaning.
    • Document user requirements & develop SOP for tools used in data collection.
    • Provide support for data quality checks & data cleaning.
    • In close coordination with the relevant Senior Information Management Assistant, ensure the proper implementation of information updates before, during & after data profile processing & cross checking, especially in cases where field data verification is required.
    • Perform any other duties as may be required.

    Project reporting:

    • This role will work under the direct supervision of the ICRS Programme Officer and under the overall supervision of the DDRR Programme Manager.

    Key Competencies

    • College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Data Science or related field of study with 4 years of relevant experience in software management & database management or university degree in the same fields of study with 1 year of relevant experience in database management.
    • Experience in Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL, Windows / web based developed applications is required.
    • Previous experience working with an international organization.
