    Lead, Business Intelligence & Research

    Key Responsibilities

    • Market Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct in-depth market research to assess industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
    • Provide actionable insights to inform collaboration efforts and enhance competitiveness for projects and programs.
    • Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
    • Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting:
    • Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and private sector players.
    • Identify key decision-makers and influencers among stakeholders to support strategic initiatives.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
    • Policy Direction and Strategic Planning:
    • Identify key policy directions and sectors with special government focus and funding opportunities.
    • Work closely with leadership to develop data-driven strategic plans and objectives for business growth.
    • Provide recommendations for optimization based on thorough research and analysis.
    • Culture of Continuous Improvement:
    • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the unit.
    • Encourage and implement best practices for market intelligence and strategic insights.

    Qualifications And Key Attributes

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive working experience in a similar field
    • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data collection and analysis tools.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Familiarity with government policies, funding mechanisms, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
    • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical analysis software.
    • Solid understanding of market research methodologies.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Business Development Manager

    Role Description

    • The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness with a minimum of 5 years’ of progressive business development experience working with international donors or implementing partners (USAID, BMGF, JSI, HSDF, Solina etc.). Experience with government agencies and parastatals in a business development/grants management position can be considered.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify and source for innovative and impactful projects/programs in line with Sydani’s objectives and goals
    • Engage C-level decision-makers at conferences, forums and meetings to build strategic relationships
    • Forge MOUs and partnerships with similar organizations to execute projects or programs
    • Lead market penetration activities into new countries in the Eastern/Western Africa region
    • Coordinate responses to RFPs and RFQs from government and international donor agencies
    • Lead negotiations and discussions with government stakeholders to ensure project continuity and expansion
    • Develop frameworks, approaches, and procedures to enhance the efficiency of business development support processes

    Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a reputable university
    • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from an internationally renowned university is desirable
    • Membership of a professional body is an added advantage
    • Have evidence of actual proposals/grants developed, led, and won (combined minimum of $1m)
    • Have led a business expansion into other countries preferably in West and East Africa
    • Possess a deep understanding of the business landscape and market entry requirements in West and/or East African countries
    • Possess advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Understand data and market research tools including Bloomberg, BMI etc.
    • Be exceptional at networking, presentation and strategic communications
    • Demonstrate business intelligence skills evidenced by longstanding contacts in government, partners locally and internationally.

    Lead, Business Development & Support Services

    Key Responsibilities

    Proposal Development:

    • Write, edit, and format proposals, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and proper structure.
    • Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements and evaluation criteria outlined in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs).
    • Ensure all components of proposals—executive summaries, technical approaches, budgets, and appendices—are complete and well-organized.
    • Ensure compliance with submission requirements, formatting guidelines, and proposal evaluation criteria.
    • Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate project budgets and pricing strategies that align with proposal objectives, ensuring competitiveness and profitability

    Branding Support:

    • Maintain a repository of proposal content, templates, boilerplate text, and reusable assets to streamline future proposal development efforts.
    • Engage with clients or prospective clients to clarify proposal requirements and address inquiries during the proposal process.

    Post-Submission Activities/Follow-Up:

    • Participate in debriefings after proposal submissions to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
    • Continuously update and refine proposal templates and processes based on lessons learned.
    • Maintain records of proposal submissions, outcomes, and win/loss analyses.
    • Generate reports to assess the firm's proposal success rates and identify opportunities for improvement.

    Qualifications And Key Attributes

    • Bachelor's degree in business management or administration, finance, accounting, marketing, or a related field is essential. A master’s degree in any of the above fields is desirable.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive working experience in a similar field
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
    • Able to utilize advanced search tools and databases
    • Fluent in English; written and spoken
    • Knowledgeable on macro trends in the international development space
    • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
    • Able to work independently and/or as a part of a large team
    • Focused and have a demonstrated ability to successfully execute business strategies
    • Results-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Adaptable and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
