Mechanical Fitter at Peach Strides and Pristines

Position Overview

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for performing mechanical installation, repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance activities on production machinery and associated equipment within the JV facility. The role ensures that machines operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with engineering standards, OEM specifications, and production requirements. The Mechanical Fitter supports troubleshooting, equipment adjustments, component replacement, and mechanical system diagnostics to reduce downtime and maintain optimal operational reliability.

The position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform mechanical fitting, assembly, installation, and maintenance of production machinery, conveyors, pumps, gear systems, and other mechanical components.
• Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, alignment, tightening, and adjustments to ensure machine reliability and performance stability.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out necessary repairs or replacement of defective parts in accordance with OEM guidelines.
• Support breakdown maintenance activities by responding promptly to equipment failures and restoring equipment functionality.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, installation diagrams, and technical manuals for accurate execution of tasks.
• Assist in preventive maintenance programs, ensuring timely completion of schedules and detailed documentation.
• Ensure all tools, lifting devices, and mechanical equipment are used safely and maintained in good operating condition.
• Report abnormalities, potential risks, or recurring mechanical issues to the Maintenance Manager for escalation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and repair records for traceability and compliance.
• Collaborate with the Electrical/Instrumentation team on multidisciplinary maintenance tasks and troubleshooting.
• Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery or equipment upgrades.
• Follow all EHS guidelines including lock-out/tag-out procedures, safe lifting practices, and equipment isolation protocols.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing machine reliability and reducing downtime.
• Maintain a clean and organized working area in compliance with housekeeping standards.

Experience & Education

• Vocational training or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical fitting or industrial mechanical maintenance.
• Proven experience working with industrial machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, precision measurement instruments, and alignment tools.

Relevant Certifications:

• Nigerian Primary (Preferred):
• Trade Test I–III (Mechanical)
• Basic HSE/ISPON certification

International (Added Advantage):

• OEM equipment-specific training
• Mechanical fitting certifications from recognized institutions
