    Shift Electrical in-charge (Instrumentation)

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all operations on the plant
    • Overall responsibility for the isolation of all electrical and mechanical plant with the subsequent issue of Electrical and Mechanical Permits for Work, Sanctions for Test, Permits for Work
    • Responsibility for the supervision and management of the power plant Operations staff to ensure that the plant is being operated as efficiently and safely as possible, and checking where necessary to ensure that operational requirements are being met, with particular reference to boiler pressure raising, emission controls, turbo-alternator run up and emergency conditions.
    • Responsibility for ensuring that all agreed routine plant checks and testing are being carried out to the specified frequencies and in accordance with Plant Operating Instructions, and that boiler, turbine, control room and auxiliary plant log sheets are filled correctly, and at the prescribed frequency.
    • Responsibility for the reporting and prioritizing of defects which require attention by maintenance and other support departments and contractors in accordance with plant procedures.
    • Responsibility for keeping a full and complete, detailed, Shift log of all aspects of Plant Operation with special reference to Operations of a non-routine nature, and especially non-routine high voltage switching.
    • Responsibility for preparing detailed reports of incidents/accidents for investigation and enquiry, and taking charge of Fire and First Aid activities as appropriate, and completing reports of these incidents in accordance with specified reporting procedures.
    • Responsibility for all aspects of Operations shift management, including cover arrangements for holidays, sickness or other shift changes.
    • Responsibility for ensuring that any Quality, Safety or Environmental Systems procedures which they are responsible for managing or undertaking, are performed in accordance with appropriate requirements.
    • Responsibility for identifying and planning the training needs of their team members within their area of responsibility.
    • Monitoring of short term contractors and maintenance staff within the Energy Centre, outside normal office hours.
    • Conduct Risk Assessment reviews as necessary, to include audits of existing Operational Risk Assessments
    • The overall control of raw materials on shift, this includes loading/off-loading, consumption rates and communications to relevant suppliers ensuring continuous compliant operations of the power plant.

    Requirements;

    • HND/B.Sc. in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent.
    • NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety at Work preferred
    • Demonstrable and detailed technical knowledge of Power Plant equipment and operation.
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the safe and efficient operation or maintenance of Power Plant.
    • A commitment to undertake training as deemed necessary to improve and update knowledge and skills
    • Demonstrable supervisory skills in a senior management role
    • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act, Factories Act and Electrical Special Regulations
    • The ability to work with and lead a shift team.
    • Good communications skills at all levels
    • A flexible approach to cover for leave and sickness absence, sometimes at short notice
    • A current First Aid at Work Statutory Certificate

    Shift Electrical Supervisor (Instrumentation)

    Responsibilities:

    • Understand and implement dynamic electrical safety practice
    • Holds team accountable for KPI goals in safety, quality, and performance
    • Manage the workflow of all responsive, predictive and preventive maintenance
    • Mentor and coach team on technical and troubleshooting proactive
    • Help draw up the maintenance budget to meet the unit’s business objectives
    • Support his/her sector’s objectives as a maintenance/reliability manager
    • Ensure and/or facilitate the sector’s adherence to its annual maintenance budget
    • Follow best practices and ensure the efficiency and quality of the unit’s maintenance/reliability operations
    • Work with Production to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities
    • Support his/her unit’s operational strategy
    • Lead in continuous improvement through work order documentation, failure analysis and RCA process
    • Plans weekly and shut down work in cooperation with all stakeholders

    Requirements

    • The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
    • 5 years' experience in a large power plant or manufacturing industry using electrical/ Instrumentation, fiber communication, AC and DC motors, reliability principles, and PLCs.
    • Supervisory experience within a heavy industrial manufacturing setting is preferred.
    • Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment, codes and safety procedures are also important.
    • Should be familiar with computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and CAD (computer-aided design).

    Shift Electrician (Instrumentation)

    Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge of Health and Safety issues in connection with the manufacturing industry
    • Able to work under own initiative and make sound judgement on the tasks required to complete a repair
    • Experience in calibrating instrumentation including but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, pH and conductivity
    • Sound knowledge of all electrical works within the field of building repairs and maintenance
    • Understanding of instrumentation, PLC’s, DCS, Fire alarms, Low voltage and high voltage work
    • Ability to record detailed and accurate repairs information relating to inspections, repairs and project work
    • Able to use electronic equipment (handhelds) e.g. HART Calibrator
    • Use of and understanding of a CMMS/SAP
    • Supervision of contractors as required in order for maintenance tasks to be completed
    • Capable of working at heights from scaffold platforms, ladders or mechanical equipment
    • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
    • Team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills as you will be required to work closely with many stakeholders
    • Computer literate

    Requirements

    • Minimum of three years’ experience as an electrician preferable within the manufacturing industry
    • Completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship or relevant qualifications in an electrical engineering discipline (essential)
    • Repair and maintenance tasks in a manufacturing environment
    • Working with a range of tools, ladders and equipment (e.g. MEWP) to enable duties of the job to be completed
    • Gas-fired boilers, water treatment for boilers and plant steam generators (desirable)
    • High Voltage experience preferred

    Electrician

    A leading FMCG group is in need of an Electrician for its large power plant operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Execute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems
    • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
    • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
    • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
    • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
    • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
    • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units

    Requirements

    • Diploma in relevant vocational training or successfully completed apprenticeship as an electrician
    • Proven experience as an electrician in a power plant
    • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
    • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
    • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
    • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight
    • Valid license to practise the profession

    Shift Electrical Supervisor

    A leading FMCG group is in need of a Shift Electrical Supervisor for its large power plant operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Making schedules, assigning work and training employees.
    • Motivate electricians to increase their productivity and meet work goals.
    • Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with electrical codes and adherence to safety regulations.
    • Assist with electrical system installation, troubleshooting and repair as needed.
    • Designing electrical systems and circuits, as well as contributing to improved designs and manufacturing processes are other common job functions.
    • They may purchase supplies, ensure adequate inventory, plan budgets, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates and document their purchases.
    • They may also keep records of electrical operations, payrolls and timesheets.

    Requirements
