    Community Development Assistant

    Key Responsibilities

    • Help organize and participate in campaigns, workshops, and community meetings aimed at raising awareness and promoting engagement in various project components;
    • Assist in the identification and selection of vulnerable individuals for project activities, including social protection, education, health, WASH, and agriculture initiatives;
    • Support the delivery of services and resources to beneficiaries, ensuring that activities are inclusive and accessible to all community members, especially marginalized groups;
    • Facilitate the implementation of labor-intensive activities, cash transfer programs, and other community-focused interventions as needed;
    • Collaborate with the Social Safety Net Senior Officer and other project staff to ensure that activities are well-coordinated and meet the project’s objectives across different sectors;
    • Provide basic support and assistance in health promotion, WASH activities, and agricultural practices, contributing to the overall success of the project’s integrated approach;
    • Build strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure active participation in all project activities across different sectors;
    • Facilitate community meetings and workshops to raise awareness about project goals and activities, emphasizing the integration of social protection, health, WASH, and agriculture;
    • Support the Social Safety Net Senior Officer in conducting community needs assessments and identifying potential beneficiaries for various project components;
    • Ensure effective communication between the project team and community members, addressing any concerns or feedback;
    • Assist in the preparation and organization of project-related documents, including beneficiary lists, activity reports, and meeting minutes across all sectors;
    • Maintain accurate records of project activities, ensuring that data is properly collected and stored for social protection, health, WASH, and agriculture components;
    • Provide logistical support for field activities, including arranging transportation, booking venues, and preparing materials;
    • Assist in the coordination of training sessions and workshops for community members and project staff across all sectors;
    • Support the monitoring of project activities, ensuring they are implemented according to plan and meet the project's objectives across social protection, health, WASH, and agriculture;
    • Collect and compile data from the field, assisting the Social Safety Net Senior Officer in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders;
    • Participate in regular field visits to monitor the progress of activities and provide feedback to the project team;
    • Assist in organizing training sessions for community volunteers and project beneficiaries, focusing on social protection, education, health, WASH, and agriculture;
    • Provide on-the-job support to community volunteers, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills needed to carry out their roles effectively across various sectors;
    • Participate in capacity-building initiatives for local government staff and community leaders.

    Position Requirements

    • National Diploma/Degree in Education, Community Development, Social Work, Health, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Public Health, or a related field;
    • Minimum of 2-year experience in community mobilization/development work, preferably in a humanitarian context;
    • Experience implementing multi-sectoral projects, including social protection programs, educational initiatives, labor-intensive activities, and integrated support in Health, WASH, and Agriculture;
    • Resident of community area (LGA) of work, networks within community;
    • Previous NGO experience managing mobilization in different interventions;
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in community engagement, and basic administrative skills;
    • Proficiency in English and local languages (e.g., Kanuri, Hausa) is required;
    • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to screening sites;
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members and leaders, partner agencies and key contacts in the government.

    Human Resources Assistant

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as the main point of contact for distributing documents and items to the team, including monthly payslips, timesheets, and brief updates;
    • Regularly update and manage Action Against Hunger's communication boards, contact lists, and the monthly training tracker for Yobe;
    • Maintain a database of staff information, create files for new joiners, and follow up with staff to collect any missing documents or details;
    • Prepare payment schedules for daily workers, including seconded staff and hotel expenses;
    • Responsible for the monthly filing and archiving of all HR documents such as payslips, leave forms, and timesheets;
    • Handle accommodation bookings for ACF staff and guests visiting Yobe;
    • Organize and maintain necessary personnel and contractual documents for all base staff;
    • Manage both physical and electronic archiving of HR files in accordance with established procedures;
    • Compile and report claims from national staff to the HR manager;
    • Prepare, compile, and distribute mission-related documents weekly, such as job announcements and recruitment updates;
    • Ensure all documentation is ready for new staff onboarding to help them access ACF's social benefits;
    • Prepare HR files for audits and verification visits;
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding all HR-related matters;
    • Timely process contract amendments and extensions, ensuring staff understand their contract terms and conditions;
    • Ensure proper administration for exiting staff, including issuing early notice, filing documents correctly, and conducting exit interviews;
    • Educate new joiners about the ACF performance appraisal system and support adherence to timelines for individual action plans, monthly check-ins, probationary reviews, mid-term assessments, and annual appraisals;
    • File and archive recruitment documents according to reference numbers;
    • Serve as the main communication point for candidates throughout the recruitment process;
    • Schedule technical assessments and interviews;
    • Facilitate the integration of new employees;
    • Archive training certificates in HR files as per the archiving guidelines;
    • Forward identified skill improvement areas from performance appraisals to the line manager;
    • Update HR database with changes related to staff bank accounts;

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field;
    • Minimum of 6 months in Human Resources Management (experience in an NGO is preferred);
    • Proficient in Hausa and English;
    • Strong analytical and writing abilities;
    • Familiarity with Nigerian Labor Law and the National Social Security Law provisions;
    • Proficient in MS Office, including Word and Outlook, with advanced skills in Excel.

    Social Safety Net Senior Officer

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct mapping and selection of the most vulnerable groups, ensuring that women, girls, and other marginalized groups are prioritized;
    • Assist in implementing cash transfers, social protection interventions as per program guidelines;
    • Work closely with government officials, local leaders, and communities to ensure alignment with community needs and project goals;
    • Collaborate with the Ministry of Education to conduct mass campaigns and link educational support with economic recovery activities. Provide scholarships to vulnerable children, particularly girls, and link them with other project components like literacy training;
    • Support in the rehabilitation of community assets through labor-intensive activities, ensuring that selected households are supported with cash transfers;
    • Support the implementation of monthly conditional cash transfers for vulnerable households, with a focus on encouraging behavioral changes that improving household resilience;
    • Coordinate emergency cash or voucher assistance for households in the event of unforeseen disasters, ensuring adherence to gender and protection standards;
    • Ensure adherence to Action Against Hunger technical guidelines and monitor the implementation of all social protection and safety net activities;
    • Contribute to organizational learning by documenting lessons learned and best practices. Prepare internal and external reports, including case studies and success stories related to the project;
    • Support systematic monitoring and evaluation of all activities, ensuring that data is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for stakeholders;
    • Contribute to the compilation of monthly social protection and safety nets technical reports with an overview of activities on economic empowerment of the social protection income generation activities area of the program, contextual updates and quantitative indicator follow-up;
    • Collect data and support documentation for internal and external reporting on social protection activities;
    • Support in follow up on logistics requirements in coordination with the procurement officer and Log manager;
    • Ensure that all program-related data and information on social protection and safety nets component of the program is correct, updated, organized and accessible to other key stakeholders, and that lessons learnt and best practice are documented;
    • Support development of activities progress reports for the social protection and safety nets team as well as contribute to the development of donor reports;
    • Support integration efforts of social protection activities with other sectors by providing necessary information and coordinating with project teams;
    • Engage constructively with LGA authorities, traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation;
    • Incorporate climate resilience into social protection activities, fostering sustainable solutions in the emergency-development nexus;
    • Communicate performance standards, provide feedback, and support the professional development of team members;
    • Contribute to the professional development and improvement of team members by providing support;
    • Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to Assistants which includes; 10 minutes monthly conversation, 3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/ end of contract appraisal;
    • Establish performance objectives, provide feedback, and identify strengths and areas for professional improvement.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor Degree in Education and Education related courses, Economics, Business Management/ Administration, and any other related field of study;
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in implementing CVA and Social Protection related interventions;  
    • Thorough knowledge of social protection and cash transfer programming;
    • Strong communication skills and experience in team support;
    • Humanitarian experience, particularly in advocacy and dissemination of information;
    • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and local communities.
