    Lab Technician

    Job Summary

    • The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining the quality integrity of all petroleum products received, stored, and dispatched at the terminal.
    • The role ensures that all testing, sampling, and documentation comply with regulatory standards and company procedures, supporting safe, efficient, and quality-driven terminal operations.

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

    • Perform quality verification of vessel cargo samples prior to discharge to confirm conformity with regulatory and company standards.
    • Prepare, document, and submit daily product quality reports to the Depot Manager/Terminal Manager for operational review.
    • Maintain an up-to-date physical inventory of all product samples retained in the laboratory, ensuring proper labeling and record-keeping.
    • Monitor product behavior in relation to temperature, time, and storage conditions, providing analytical reports and recommendations as needed.
    • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe operation of all laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure the cleanliness of the laboratory at all times in line with HSE standards.
    • Assist in product certification and liaise with regulatory bodies or third-party inspectors during product quality verification exercises.
    • Maintain and update laboratory records, product certificates, and test results for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Participate in safety meetings, drills, and training to promote a culture of safety and quality awareness within the terminal.
    • Support product sampling during truck loading or vessel operations to ensure quality consistency across all dispatch points.
    • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager or Management.

    Requirements
    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory analysis within the oil & gas or petroleum downstream sector.
    • Strong understanding of product testing procedures, ASTM methods, and quality control principles.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., DPR/NMDPRA standards).

    QHSE Supervisor

    Job Purpose 

    • The QHSE Supervisor ensures compliance with Matrix QHSE policies and procedures, supervises the activities of QHSE Officers, conducts induction trainings, and oversees safe systems of work to maintain safety across all facility operations.
    • He/She supports the QHSE Team Lead in conducting investigations, facilitates inductions and toolbox meetings for PTW jobs, monitors truck assessments, and executes other QHSE-MS–related tasks.

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    • Drive compliance with Matrix Energy Policies, standards, and procedures, local and International HSE regulations, in Matrix Depot.
    • Support the Head QHSE and team with implementing effective QHSE policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure that the Matrix Group's overall objectives are met.
    • Accountable for the quality and critical review of QHSE data reported to QHSE Team Lead
    • Collate and report QHSE Performance Measurements from the facility and ensure consistency in data reporting and interpretation.
    • Execute the Matrix Terminal Waste Management Plan.
    • Prepare weekly reports to QHSE Team Leads.
    • Deliver QHSE training for Matrix Terminals staff and contractors to ensure practices are in full compliance with the safe systems of work at the site. These trainings include Site HSE Induction, PTW, Life Saving Rules, ISO 14001 Awareness, Confined Space, Unsafe Acts Auditing, Fire Fighting, Use of PPE, Waste Management & Safe Handling of Chemicals.
    • Investigate and complete the process for closing out all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare/submit lessons learned to the Head QHSE for promulgation to the management.
    • Ensure toolbox meetings are implemented as part of the company’s training and QHSE program.
    • Conduct induction training for new employees, visitors, and contractors as applicable.
    • Carry out specific QHSE-MS implementation tasks.
    • Support the Matrix Energy Group Operation and Maintenance Manager on QHSE issues, especially resulting from activities on site.
    • Ensure all worksites are HSE compliant with Company policies and safety standards.
    • Support the Cascade of Learning from Incidents, best practices, and drive implementation of HSE practices.
    • Seek to continuously improve HSE risk identification, assessment, and reduction in the Matrix depot.
    • Support the build-up and delivery of QHSE plans towards the realization of continuous improvement of HSE performance in Matrix Energy Group Depots.
    • Test and maintain Area Emergency response procedures and plans.
    • Assist in ad-hoc QHSE tasks/projects as required.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 5 years depot experience.
    • HND / PGD / BSC in Science/Engineering
    • HSE 1-3
    • Professional qualification certification will be an advantage.
    • Membership in professional bodies is an added advantage (NSE, COREN, ISPON, PSIN, IOSH, SPE, etc.)
    • Good understanding of safety and operational processes in the downstream sector.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools

    LPG Control Room Officer

    Job Opening ID: MEL1126

    Job Purpose

    • The LPG Control Room Officer is responsible for operating the LPG terminal’s control systems, coordinating truck loading, monitoring the LPG plant conditions, and maintaining accurate records of stock movement.
    • The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures, shift work, and effective communication with operations and maintenance teams.

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities
    HSE:

    • Adhere to HSE rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety
    • Assess and initiate tactical responses and act as first responder until the on-scene commander arrives at the Tactical Response Centre
    • Report defects/ abnormal conditions and shut down equipment during emergencies.
    • Participate in firefighting and evacuation drills
    • Monitoring of all fire and Gas alarms within the terminal
    • Authorized control and use of interlock keys on critical safety devices

    Control Room Operations:

    • Complete responsibility for site security and outside during working hours
    • Take readings of storage tank levels, temperature/pressure readouts
    • On getting truck information from operators via a radio connection, validate the truck number and confirm if the truck has a ticket to load.
    • Take the truck tare weight before operators connect the loading spool.
    • Batches truck-nominated quantity to the system and starts once operators are notified of readiness.
    • After loading, process the truck waybill and hand it over to security for the truck to exit at the depot.
    • Maintain a comprehensive shift log itemizing system change
    • Read and record instrument gauges and automatic device data to verify operating conditions.
    • General housekeeping and improvement of the appearance of the Control room
    • Make diagnostic checks to determine the cause of equipment malfunction and correct faults where possible or contact the Maintenance engineer for action.
    • Receive confirmed orders from the supply and customer care coordinator and generate LPG loading/ discharge instructions
    • Print waybill and maintain file records of all handling/ discharging transactions
    • Accept control room responsibility from the outgoing shift and hand it in an orderly/ efficient manner to the incoming shift.
    • Keeps a database of depot dispatch activities.
    • Reconciles daily loading records at the close of business.
    • Ensure that all control room equipment, including safety devices and systems, is functioning properly, and report all equipment failures to the operations supervisor.
    • Participate in emergencies as required.

    LPG Receipts:

    • Coordinate with vessel and jetty teams during LPG offloading/loading operations

    Maintenance:

    • Perform minor maintenance as required.
    • Raise and track work orders for equipment issues.
    • Ensure adherence to safe work practices under permit-to-work guidelines.

    General Operations:

    • Work shift hours, overtime, and irregular hours as needed to support the reliable operation of the terminal.
    • Make operating decisions based on plant procedures, environmental regulations, safety procedures, and good judgment based on operating data.
    • Operate the LPG terminal via a remote-distributed plant control system. Periodically, equipment may need to be operated locally or manually
    • Provide a detailed status of plant conditions to fellow CROs at shift turnover.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Reports:

    • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the PLC and other operational systems.

    Requirements

    • First Degree in any Engineering-related course.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in LPG depot Operations or LPG processing plant operations.
    • A good knowledge of PLC/ Automation will be an added advantage.
    • A professional qualification like HSE Level 1-3 will be an added advantage.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Solid understanding of safety regulations and operational processes in the downstream sector.
    • Familiar with the inventory management system.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
    • Knowledge of the business.

    Customer Service Officer

    Job Purpose: 

    • The Customer Service Officer serves as the first point of contact for customers, providing timely and accurate information regarding product availability, pricing, quality, and delivery status.
    • The role is responsible for ensuring efficient communication, resolving customer issues promptly, and supporting the sales and operations teams to enhance overall customer satisfaction and business performance 

     RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Attend to customer inquiries on product availability, daily prices, and product quality.
    • Complete registration and onboarding processes for new customers in line with company procedures.
    • Serve as the first contact point for all customer inquiries through the designated customer care line or other approved channels.
    • Provide prompt feedback to customers on payment confirmation, truck allocation, and the status or location of dispatched trucks.
    • Communicate updates on depot activities such as vessel arrivals, loading delays, weekend operations, and public holiday schedules.
    • Advise the haulage and sales teams daily on outstanding customer truck requests by close of business (COB).
    • Ensure minor customer complaints are resolved by COB and major issues are addressed within 24 hours.
    • Escalate unresolved or critical issues—such as product shortages, driver delays, or detentions—to the Terminal Sales Head and Terminal Manager.
    • Maintain up-to-date customer records and ensure compliance with all KYC and internal documentation requirements.
    • Provide consistent support to the sales team, serving as a backup when required to ensure smooth business operations.
    • Contribute to improving customer service processes and communication systems for enhanced client satisfaction

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in any discipline.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in petroleum marketing, downstream operations, or customer service within a related industry.
    • Proven experience in managing customer relationships and resolving service issues.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent customer service orientation and problem-solving ability.
    • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and responsiveness.
