    Accountant

    Job Summary

    • Our client is an emerging leader in the construction industry, highly regarded for delivering exceptional services in both dredging and construction. Committed to providing unparalleled service, our client is seeking a meticulous and dedicated accountant to join their team. The selected accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring precise financial management and reporting, thus contributing to the success and financial well-being of the establishment.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage all financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll processing.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and variance reports, offering insights to support strategic decision-making by management.
    • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
    • Oversee daily cash flow management, ensuring the availability of sufficient funds for operational needs.
    • Coordinate and review all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and other financial records to maintain accuracy and integrity.
    • Prepare and file tax returns while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Assist in financial forecasting and planning to support the organization's growth.
    • Monitor and maintain inventory and stock ledgers.
    • Compute PAYE, VAT taxes, and render returns.
    • Prepare monthly payroll.
    • Participate in both internal and external financial audits.
    • Manage internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain financial transparency.
    • Keep abreast of financial regulations and industry trends to ensure the implementation of best practices in financial management.
    • Update internal systems with financial data.
    • Ensure all transactions are captured in the company's ERP (Peachtree).
    • Maintain and manage financial documents to safeguard financial records and facilitate auditing.
    • Review and implement financial policies.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Accountant.
    • Proficiency in business tax planning and management.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
    • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Membership in a recognized accounting professional body is an advantage

    Job Responsibilities

    • Handle end to end recruitment including drafting job descriptions, placing job adverts, screening of applications, interview ,selection process, reference checks candidate placement and onboarding.
    • Responsible for drafting, processing, and recording of all consultants and staff contracts.
    • Draft policies and other organizational documents.
    • Create and drive innovative recruitment methods to build a continuous pipeline, with an aim to reach passive job seekers and to source difficult to fill positions.
    • Maintain an up to date human resource information database for assigned business units and generate scheduled or requested reports to assist in decision making.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of performance management systems for all staff across business units.
    • Coordinate performance management procedures.
    • Coordinate reward and recognition processes.
    • Conduct exit interviews, identifying trends and recommending actions to address raised concerns.
    • Submit a weekly report to the line manager.
    • Revamp Employee relations and engagement to foster a collaborative work environment.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • B.Sc Degree in Human Resources Management or related course.
    • NYSC Discharge certificate or exemption letter.
    • Minimum of 2 years cognate HR generalist experience. (Must have participated in HR activities such as recruitment, performance management etc).
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • A good knowledge of Nigerian employment practices and labour law.
    • Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is mandatory.

    • Effective organisational skills, attention to details and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner.

    Remuneration
    N100,000 (Gross) Monthly.
