    Finance Assistant

    Position Summary

    • The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements, and providing administrative support to facilitate efficient financial operations.

    Key Responsibilities
    The Finance Assistant shall support the Finance Department in ensuring effective financial management, compliance, and accurate financial reporting. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in processing payments, reimbursements, and bank transfers in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Prepare payment vouchers and ensure all supporting documentation is complete, accurate, approved, and properly filed.
    • Record financial transactions, including payment instructions (PIs), journal entries (GJs), and other accounting entries, in the organization's accounting software.
    • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems, both physical and electronic, ensuring proper finance archiving and regular updates of the finance archive index.
    • Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations, for both Naira and foreign currency accounts.
    • Support the preparation and processing of monthly payroll and related statutory remittances, including PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, Withholding Tax (WHT), VAT, and other applicable statutory deductions.
    • Assist in preparing advances and monitor the timely retirement and reconciliation of all advances.
    • Support budget monitoring by tracking expenditures against approved budgets and highlighting any variances.
    • Ensure compliance with the organization's financial policies, donor regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable Nigerian financial and tax laws.
    • Work closely with programme and support departments to ensure financial documentation and voucher redemption processes comply with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Review staff timesheets for completeness and accuracy to support payroll processing and project cost allocation.
    • Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial information and records.
    • Communicate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders to support timely financial reporting and donor compliance.
    • Contribute to strengthening internal controls by identifying compliance gaps and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
    • Provide administrative and technical support to the Finance Officer as required.
    • Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Officer or designated supervisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 2–3 years' relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an NGO, humanitarian, or development organization.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of donor financial management and compliance requirements is an added advantage.
    • Professional certification such as ICAN, ANAN, or evidence of ongoing professional certification will be an added advantage.
    • Proficiency in computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
    • Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, and Nigerian statutory tax and payroll regulations.
    • Experience in payroll processing, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support is desirable.

    Community Mobilization Assistant

    Position Summary

    • The Community Mobilization Assistant will support the Cash Transfer/Community Mobilization Coordinator in planning, coordinating, and implementing community mobilization and cash transfer activities throughout the project duration.
    • The position holder will serve as the primary field focal person within the assigned LGA, ensuring effective community engagement, beneficiary sensitization, registration, cash distribution support, complaint management, and post-distribution monitoring while maintaining compliance with donor and organizational standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    The Community Mobilization Assistant shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
    Community Engagement and Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Mobilize communities and key stakeholders
    • conduct sensitization sessions on MPCA
    • Maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and partners
    • Promote community participation and ownership throughout the project.

    Beneficiary Identification and Data Management:

    • Ensure transparent beneficiary selection, registration, verification, and household data collection processes while ensuring data accuracy, quality, confidentiality, and validation of beneficiary lists.

    Accountability, Safeguarding, and Protection:

    • Promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP),
    • Manage feedback and complaints mechanisms
    • Uphold safeguarding standards (PSEA, Child Protection, and GBV risk mitigation) and ensure inclusion of vulnerable groups.

    Field Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:

    • Oversee post-distribution monitoring, document lessons learned and success stories
    • Report incidents and safeguarding concerns,
    • Submit timely weekly and monthly reports.

    Project Implementation and Compliance Support:

    • Support cash transfer activities and beneficiary communication,
    • Participate in project planning and review meetings,
    • Represent LESGO professionally and ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with LESGO policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Cash Transfer/Community Mobilization Coordinator or Project Manager.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, Development Studies, Sociology, Education, or a related field.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in humanitarian or development programming, preferably involving community mobilization, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), livelihoods, food security, or emergency response.
    • Previous experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations is highly desirable.
    • Experience in beneficiary registration, community engagement, and field data collection is an added advantage.
    • Residents of the respective duty LGAs are strongly encouraged to apply.

    • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), PSEA, safeguarding, and humanitarian principles.

    • Good report writing and documentation skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and mobile data collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, or CommCare) is an added advantage.
    • Ability to work under pressure and travel extensively within the assigned LGA.
    • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa and other local languages spoken in the assigned LGA is highly desirable.
