    Shelter Officer Nigeria

    If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Shelter Officer to join our team in Yola, Adamawa State. You will provide technical support to Education Project program in the high-quality implementation of delegated education infrastructure activities in Area South.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage day-to-day activities of all Education infrastructure activities with technical aspects (new constructions, rehabilitation, repair, etc)
    • To read and interpret engineering, architectural drawings and execute construction plan with ease.
    • To monitor daily construction procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained, and schedules are being followed.
    • To set out the works in accordance with the drawings and specification and liaise with the Project Manager regarding construction programs.
    • To create and monitor schedules for the project.
    • To create progress reports on weekly basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the project manager.
    • Preparing comparison of the received quotations, negotiating with the contractors to get the best price and discount.
    • To ensure correctness of contract Details with the project requirements as per the specification.
    • Preparation of bill of quantities (BOQ) for the projects.
    • Evaluatin of work-done by the contractors for each stage of their milestone.
    • Prepare certification of construction work.
    • To gather all the quantities, BOQs, specifications and drawings for materials & contract works that are needed for the project.
    • Receiving & reviewing technical specifications, bill of quantity, drawings, checking them.
    • Serve as point of contact with contractor related issues with projects and communicate to the project manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • University degree or M.Eng. in civil engineering 
    • Experience household training in infrastructure construction and maintenance
    • Knowledge of the context in North Eastern Nigeria
    • Knowledge of the local language, Hausa, Fulfulde 
    • Knowledge of construction requirements and protocols in Nigeria
    • Familiarity with international minimum standards of service delivery (i.e., SPHERE) is an advantage
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GPS, ARC GIS and Google Earth is strongly desirable
    • Experience with start-up, exit or similar

    HR and Administration Team Leader - Yola

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    These strategic locations have allowed NRC greater reach from the north and south parts of the North-East and North Central region and allowed NRC to contribute to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and development cooperation, including by focusing on equitable access to basic services and strengthening the rights of displaced people and returnees. In addition to the Country Office and the above-mentioned Area Offices, NRC has sub-office structures in Dikwa, Monguno, Biu, Mubi, Pulka and Gwoza. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise the HR/Admin team at the area office level; responsible for individual meetings, development, and review of the team performance 
    • Ensure that staff records in all field offices in the area are up to date and filed appropriately in the HR personnel file archive 
    • Responsible for implementation of HR policies and procedures
    • Responsible for managing the NRC people Solution at the Area Level
    • Ensure that all recruitments at the area level are followed up from start till finish
    • Support hiring manager with new staff orientation and induction process.
    • Coordinate the team’s daily work tasks, improving processes and developing the team
    • Support staff with the tools & procedures for performance management
    • Oversee all administrative responsibilities accommodation booking, facility management, utilities, store management etc.
    • Take the lead in vacancy announcements and longlisting of requested positions according to the approved organogram 
    • Advice in personnel conflicts/processes when relevant 
    • Coordinate staff recruitment and exits, introductions, training, staff benefits schemes etc. 
    • Coordinate with relevant partners, suppliers, and authorities
    • Any other duty assigned

    HR and Administration Team Leader - Maiduguri

    • Knowledge of the local language (Kanuri & Hausa) – will be an added advantage 
    • Good communication & interpersonal skills are required
    • Team Management is key to this role 
    • Customer service-oriented with a focus on the team environment
    • Excellent HR Administration skills
    • HR Generalist Experience including Employee relations with the ability to identify potential employee issues
    • Ability to identify and resolve potential problems or issues and take necessary actions to prevent them from developing
